11. Weapons Insector Scott Ritter!
If you've been paying any attention to the debate over invading Iraq, you're probably familiar with Scott Ritter, the blustery former U.N. weapons inspector who has spent the past few weeks vigorously denouncing the Bush administration's rush to war. Ritter's ubiquity has been breathtaking. Lately he has appeared on every major TV network and in a slew of major newspapers arguing that, contrary to what you may have heard, Iraq probably has no weapons of mass destruction and that Saddam Hussein poses no real threat to anyone.

Edited on Fri Oct-19-07 02:43 PM by DesertRat
Both of these Democrats and Nobel Peace Prize recipients have stood up to Bushco many times. Quick examples:

President Jimmy Carter said that the Iraq War was "based on lies" and that * DID authorize torture.

Vice President Al Gore said that the * administration is "a renegade band of rightwing extremists".

32. welcome!
Those named up and down this thread, they are the genuine leaders that walk their talk.

They remind us why we are Democrats.

They know that absolute power corrupts absolutely; and they are willing to challenge those in the Executive Branch who have beyond a doubt - abused their power!

Any person in a leadership role within our ranks needs to look at these hero's, lest they forget what real leaders are for.

peace~:)

There has been plenty of frustration expressed on DU for what some have not done - this was to acknowledge those on The Hill and in the public eye that DO STAND FOR values we hold dear!

Those Democrats are the true leaders of the Party.

With that said I would like to submit my Senator's name, Carl Levin for standing firm against the IWR when it counted the most. So did Stabenow and Levin even offered an amendment to put the brakes on the runaway train that was the IWR.

41. At this point I'd vote for any of them.
Because courage and the willingness use one's personal power to stop America's slide into fascism are the only two criteria that I require for my vote. Dodd went on my radar screen with his move, Kucinich is my vote from the heart, and Feingold would have a lot of support from me if he were running.

Stark I had never heard of until recently, and GOOD ON HIM! I bet he's one of the progressive caucus.
