I was not informed about Motumbo's humanitarian work, and have been sufficiently educated below. I was just astonished to see an athlete with everything that is going on. I am appropriately chastened.

the things that Americans do. A man that came here from Africa becomes a citizen and does things for his home country, someone that saved someone's life, someone that created a business, and a person who displayed courage and valor in a military battle.

things with his money and time that will better the lives of countless people. He is by all accounts a wonderful human being and many others would be well-served to use him a role model. If he doesn't do another thing for the rest of his life, he will still have done far more for the betterment of his countrymen than 99.99% of us.

In the face of Mr. Mutombo's accomplishments, "No like all of them" is a rather petulant response in my opinion.

And then all these judgmental posters come along and want a piece of me AFTER the original title and message have been extremely altered. My post sits out of context. Um... I knew what it was about when I first posted in it. It was a freak out thread about an unnamed athlete and a few others being the SOTU honorees or what ever they're called. And I feel that when the op changed people got hostel toward me as if I had posted what I did to the changed post. As if I even heard the SOTU. I am no expert at dealing with hostel people.

And yes there is something very wrong. I feel like this is high school all over again.

88. That was my question as well. And no, you didn't really have to be there.
The OP expressed dismay that Bush would invite someone like a basktball player (I'll wait for the shrieks and gasps to die down...) to the SOTU. When the OP was informed that there is actually a very good reason to invite Mr. Mutombo, he acknowledged his mistake and moved on. Not so with CV, as you can see.

But we're probably just "hostel" people that don't understand the subtlety of repeating "No like all of them," I suppose.

71. Knee-jerk responses are fun, aren't they? They keep you from having to think at all.
That's got to be a time-saver.

So, CV...do you have any plans for the Superbowl?

73. So no plans, then? You can watch the game with my friends & me if you'd like.
Imagine it: cheap beer...chicken wings...multiple large-screen tv's...hundreds of drunken yahoos all yelling at people on the screen...nachos...people hugging each other for no apparent reason...cheese sticks...yelling until you lose your voice...

Sounds glorious, doesn't it?

59. Scary SOTU, privitized armies, Iran and Syria
the clapping should have been far less IMO. Maybe they didn't listen to the same SOTU that I did.

41. I saw where everyone informed you about Mutumbo.
He definitely upstaged Hakeem Olajuwon in that department.

in 1999.

Nothing new under the sun.
