My "Bush is a moron" LTTE disgusts a local Freeper
I guess he forgot that I was referring to a real event - that Bush needs pronounciation guides in his prepared speeches! If anybody else wants to respond, you can do so here (the RW loons are out in force in this week's paper)

THE REAL MORON

A response to “Prophecy Becomes Truth:” Making fun of the president’s speech and calling him a moron is the best you can come up with? There were no facts in that article. All you did was insult him. He is the President of the United States and you can’t even give him some respect? People like you disgust me. Making fun of him and calling him names without a single thought. There are even people like you in the media. Take another look at your article. Who is the real moron?

Here was my original letter:
PROPHECY BECOMES TRUTH

Almost 90 years ago, noted author and satirist H.L. Mencken prophesied that, "All the odds are on the man who is, intrinsically, the most devious and mediocre — the man who can most easily (and) adeptly disperse the notion that his mind is a virtual vacuum. The presidency tends, year by year, to go to such men. As democracy is perfected, the office represents, more closely, the inner soul of the people. We move toward a lofty ideal. On some great and glorious day, the plain folks of the land will reach their heart’s desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron." With our president needing pronunciation guides when naming other countries in a prepared speech, it seems Mencken’s prophecy has been fulfilled

9. I was going to respond about the respect part
I recall some high profile Republicans like Ann Coulter calling for Clinton to be assassinated.

11. I think Jesse Helms had to back off his statement
Edited on Tue Oct-23-07 01:58 PM by NewJeffCT
he had no so subtly told Clinton that he should fear for his life if he came to South Carolina...

I think Ann Coulter's "assassination" comment was in the context of a question - something like "the only question now is whether to impeach or assassinate."

Somebody else had mentioned something about how they "had" to get rid of Clinton and mentioned assination as one of three or so options...

edited to add the actual quote from Will Pitt on DU last week:
"Get rid of the guy. Impeach him, censure him, assassinate him."

- Rep. James Hansen (R-UT), talking about President Clinton, as reported by journalist Steve Miner of KSUB radio who overheard his conversation, 11-01-98

17. What I always say
A Republican can write off anything that happened before today as a "youthful indiscretion"

Didn't that come up during the Lewinsky "scandal"? That Henry Hyde had an affair with a married woman when he was in his 40s, and Hyde then said it was a youthful indiscretion...

I'm 40 now, I'm sure if I had an affair, my wife wouldn't buy the excuse of it being a youthful indiscretion.

13. It's funny when they throw up "facts," as though their sad little ideas,
courtesy of right-wing think tanks, have any basis in reality.

15. A few months back
somebody had a supposedly factual quote from Nancy Pelosi about her wanting to pay for healthcare for illegal immigrants by taxing 401Ks...

I did a bit of research and the quote was literally all over the place, including some non RW sites.

However, Pelosi never said anything close to that. Somebody pulled it out of their ass and then tagged Pelosi's anme to it, and of course it made it to every RW site you could imagine - and then some.

14. Another twenty percenter heard from.

You did good. If he wasn't such an inept individual and the worst President in history he would not have the lowest ratings in history. People like this writer are just too full of Kool-Aid to see this. Willful ignorance annoys me more than almost anything else and I have no patience with stupid people.
