Hey!!!!...I Was In Wal-Mart This Morning.....

....getting the oil changed in the old clunker...the other places in my town charge almost triple and I have to watch my BUCKEROO'S these day's....so anyhow I decided to go and walk the store and peeked in to the TV/Audio department....well anyhow on the backside of the department the Manager was holding the daily store rally and reading figures for the previous day and congratulating them on a JOB WELL DONE for yesterday and the past...he continued to rattle on positive BS's and how their dedication has really made a difference for the bottom line this was followed with the ole GO WAL-MART CHEER.......

WELL!!!.......I took one HELL of a deep breath and interrupted the rally and I asked the store manager if any of the victory's he just boasted about would result in pay raises, medical benefits, and paid vacation for these employees who are making him shine...you could see some employees showing stunned looks on their faces and reality hit some others.....then store security came and asked me to leave the area and finish up my shopping.....I gladly did...

1. tsk tsk. Such a rabble rouser.
I'm thinking that if these people loved their jobs and were paid what they were worth, they wouldn't need pep rallies.

4. Right. Betcha they don't have pep rallies in law offices
or high powered lobbyist firms. Or even in the board room of wally world where they probably just sit around and chortle at the suckers who work there and make them rich.

This is what I meant when I spoke of individual action in a previous thread.

You have to seize the moment. Every little incident like this adds up.

Good Job!!!

14. Why don't you just change your own oil?
The only time I have ever gone into Walmart after I started boycotting them was to get a new car battery as our car was dead in the parking lot of a nearby store, it was an unfamiliar area, and the only place I knew that carried a battery.

17. This is true, I sometimes don't have the time.
But I probably work around 70+ hours a week. I don't think most people are in my situation.

18. The hardest part about changing your own oil
is disposing of the used oil.

26. It Is Much Easier Than You May Imagine
Autozone and most other car parts stores will allow you to take your empty oil to them for disposal. Because they know that this is a barrier for them to sell supplies to DIYers, they make it as easy as possible. You can also rent tools from them. In some cases, you can rent tools for free.

27. Autozone and stores like that have been taking in used oil for as long as I can remember
I remember helping my dad change the oil when I was a kid and that's where he took it, one of those auto part stores.

:)

And just a FYI, I get my oil changed at the dealership, b/c I work here. :)

25. Some people live in apartments where clauses in the lease
specifically state that you can't work on your car in the parking areas - I know, because it's right there in mine! Aside from that, rolling around on the dirty pavement (particularly in winter) in order to save maybe $5, just doesn't hold the appeal for me that it used to...

19. I'm sure they reward their employees...
If they work their butts off, put blinders on and make family sacrifices for the good of the shareholders, they probably get something like a coupon for a free appetizer at TGIF once a year!

24. if you really wanted to save $$$
you should change your own oil, or even better, buy a bicycle. You are actually NOT saving money by shopping there, the costs to you and the community in which you live are just hidden and redistributed. That's where the phrase "fucking us blind" originates -- they do it so well you can't even see it.

Fuck Wal-Mart.
