OMG: Blackwater to California: Hire us to Put Out Your Fires
We couldn't make this stuff up. Brian Bonfiglio, vice president of Blackwater West, "I see a tactical operation center for East County fires," said Bonfiglio, noting that Blackwater's proposal includes water tanks capable of holding 35,000 gallons. "Can you imagine how much of a benefit it would be if we were operational now?"

5. A few years ago, mercenaries were not affiliated with the US govt.
When we thought of mercenaries, we thought first of the French Foreign Legion.

No more.

Private armies are available for hire here NOW!

8. I should have made a list of those laughing at me for considering Blackwater capable of arson
They are being thrown outta Iraq. They need something to do....

There have been instances of firefighters and/or temp firefighters starting fires for job security. Why would/could ANYONE think Blackwater would not stoop to such tactics to make money and intimidate people?

Blackwater kills for fun and profit. Blackwater pulled guns on US TROOPS for god's sake!

Yeah, I shoulda kept a list....

9. As soon as either you or bob_weaver said it, I knew it was possible.
I don't remember whose post I read first.

We have a problem. And, meanwhile back at the ranch, undocumented workers are being blamed for everything from looting to arson. I see a pattern here.

14. First mention I saw of it was an eyewitness reporter who posted in LBN on Sunday.
Reading that, I heard the penny drop.

Sept/Oct fires during Santa Ana winds in Calif have been a problem for as long as I can remember, and I remember coming to Calif when I was 4. Every year, at least some of the fires were arson. Often a pattern of fires starting along major highways/freeways and, amazingly, fires started at about the same time intervals as it would take a car to travel the distances.

Now, some were just loons who liked fire. But then the opportunists tend to come... hmmm, fires going on. What a great time to get rid of my current situation, some family member, what ever... It happens.

Sadly, some arsonists are fire fighters. There have been recent major fires started by people who hoped they could get temp work... fighting fires. Sad, but too true.

Now, Blackwater wants into a community. The local pols say 'sure, come on in' despite the local population NOT being enamored of the idea. Recall election coming up. Then, the east winds come and fire storms take out huge tracts in the area. That's enough to intimidate most people into STFU.

Sure, it COULD be coincidence. But the older I get, the more I see connections that suggest there is less coincidence than I thought when I was young and trusting. Layers, connections, lots of gray. Damned little black & white.

Blackwater has been livin high off the hog and WAY outside ANY rule of law. There is a mind set involved there. Law and order is for chumps. Blackwater was given license to kill in NOLA. Hard to put that sort of toothpaste back into the tube.

Blackwater = unburdened by concerns about law or responsibility. Survival of the meanest. Law of the jungle. Wolves and sheep.

How could anyone here not entertain the possibility that Blackwater, who are SO good at making a buck out of bad situations, would be above creating bad situations to make a buck from? It boggles my mind.

18. They sure have motivation, means and opportunity.
Let's watch this. Because that's the thing they don't count on -- that people are paying attention.

I emailed Ari Fleisher and congratulated him on the Freedom's Watch ad that raked in big bucks for MoveOn.

This is different. People have been killed and hurt and we still don't have a good fix on the losses. But let's watch these mofos. :grr:

by a firefighter hoping to be "heroic".

7. You had better fucking believe these are 1st rate assholes - Residents protest proposed Blackwater
Residents protest proposed Blackwater USA training camp

'About 200 people protested Blackwater USA's plans to build a military and law enforcement training center in this rural community.

"We're going to stop them," U.S. Rep. Bob Filner, D-San Diego, told demonstrators who gathered about a mile from the site of the proposed training camp Sunday. "Blackwater is a black mark on American democracy."

Five members of the nine-member Potrero planning group who voted in favor of Blackwater's plans face a recall in December over the issue. Supporters argue the facility would bring jobs to the area.'

let then have their training base, or there'll be arson, then they'll BLOW your house down!!

12. Soooooooo....
...Blackwater feels that firing on and murdering innocent
civilians, and then lying and covering up about it--makes
them qualified to put out fires at home?

Who are these crazed loons?

Another perk of living in a BushCo world--evil people feel that
they have carte blanche to do whatever they want. They have no
shame because this administration reinforces amoral, perverse
behaviors.

So, after they're finished being kicked out of Iraq for murdering
and causing untold suffering--they're back in the good ol' US of A--
schlepping for work.

No shame. No conscience. Oblivious to how ridiculous and sick they
look to 99 percent of the US citizens.

24. Who was the guy that was killed by the police?
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/news/worldnews.html?in_article_id=489620&in_page_id=1811

A suspected arsonist was shot dead by police as FBI agents revealed several of the fires that have forced one million people from their homes in southern California had been started deliberately.

The news came as two burned bodies were found in a San Diego area home, bringing the death toll in California's five days of wildfires up to at least eight, officials said today.

34. I'm an active member of a rural "volunteer" fire dept.
We donate our time and effort as a community service. We are On Call 24/7.
In addition to actually putting out fires, we spend many hours pro bono in fund raising, training, equipment maintenance, and co-ordination exercises with neighboring departments.

If highly paid "For Profit" mercenaries moved into our area, I would just "Let it Burn".
Fuck Them, and all those who "See a Profit" in everything.
