I know what's in the Telecom Surveillance Documents
that were just released to Specter and Leahy, and that the Intelligence Committee reviewed before recommending that the Telecoms be granted immunity.

OK, I don't know, but I'd bet a lot that I'm right. I bet that the docs "demonstrate conclusively" that the U.S. was able to disrupt some purportedly huge threatening terror plot- or more than one. And of course, in the face of that the Senators fold.

3. Nah,
that's way tinfoil, and they don't need it to cow the Senators.

4. I hope the braves senators like Dodd don't fold. I hate that we are
kept in the dark all the time. They could say anything to keep the status quo and we'd have to take them at their word. And that's frustrating beyond belief. 'Trust me' rings so hollow, from this admin or Dems.

6. Expect a leak
within a week. The admin will leak vague and ominous stories about how the telecom surveillance saved us all from a dirty bomb- or worse.

7. Dirty bomb is the threat Du Joir.
The nuke talk on Iran isn't working. We remember the lies on Iraq. Let's try dirty bombs. Are you scared yet?

9. Retroactive claims of having prevented an attack have never really gone over well. Why wouldn't
the admin. claim preventing an attack at the time of the supposed attack? Still, they'll probably try it.

10. It seems to have gone over well enough with the Intelligence
Committee, with the exception of Russ, of course. Even Whitehouse doesn't seem to have made any objections. I can't imagine what else could be in the docs to have silenced the Senators.

12. You're right--the Intell. Commitee buys it--but I meant the public hasn't
seemed to buy it.
