Two interesting stories heard on local news this AM in Juneau Alaska
First Story according to National Polling, Alaska's new Republican Governor, Sarah Palin, is the most popular Governor in America with over 80% Approval rating.
I am very Liberal and despise the GOP but I have to admit I am one of those eighty percent..
next story
US Coast Guard is considering establishing a new base in Point Barrow, America's northern most community. Due to great increase in shipping in Artic Ocean over last several years, Coast Guard is considering having to perform rescue operations such as sinkings, groundings, fire, and persons overboard, in an area that previously had very little traffic. Last year alone over three hundred Cruise Ships toured the Artic Ocean and that trend is rapidly escalating.
No links to either of these stories, just heard them on local radio news..thought they were both of interest.

What I know about Barrow is that it's the only place in the United States where high school football is played north of the Arctic Circle.

Google for "barrow high school football"
