"Letter: Gore nothing more than doomsday huckster"

Some fun reading from the state that brought you the unibomber and the freeman of Jordan

Letter: Gore nothing more than doomsday huckster

Al Gore sure knows how to keep his name in the paper, doesn't he? He has his own Nobel Prize now. I'm sure his opinion of himself has risen considerably.

Gore is probably a real nice guy, but we should not buy his line. He's a doomsday huckster, using junk science to arrive at faulty conclusions. He misrepresents and exaggerates the results and loudly pronounces impending global environmental disasters. His apparent logic is that because his predicted results are so dire, we must do what he says now to avoid them. His solutions involve restrictions on us, but he enjoys a pretty lavish lifestyle himself. Gore stays well clear of criticism, refusing to debate anyone. Indeed, he pompously proclaims that "the debate is over."

I'll continue to burn fossil fuels and enjoy my standard of living. I won't ask you to pinch your lifestyle, either. And rest assured that Gore is plenty comfy in his energy-gobbling 10,000-square-foot mansion."

Republicans seem to enjoy repeating Rush Limbaugh's propagana against Al Gore and Global Warming. Listening to Limbaugh telling them waht to think is so much easier than informing one's self on the perils of climate change.

I didn't know about the freon thing...I doubt if it's true! Go ahead...squander...live life according to what you call a standard of living. There is much more to this debate than Global warming........................How 'bout some cheap Chinese-made goods...run, run, oh I mean drive, drive to the new Walmart. People like you don't get it and never will. I don't really care for Al Gore but there are lots of Smart people in the world with lots of information that you are not able to understand. Why does the Gazette both to print letters that only complain and attack...come on Alfred give us some data on Freon.

I agree. I truly love the environment and do my part to protect it. For me that means using less fuel, turning out lights when I leave the room and not wasting stuff. My problem with Gore and others like him is that they want to mandate the way we live, yet they don't want to live with the same restrictions - as if they're above the law. We need to look our selves before we go looking to government to solve the problems of this world.

Not doing what's right because there is someone else you think is not doing what's right is a cop-out. You do what's right because that's your responsibility. Guys like Alfred have no social morals and will come up with any excuse not to do what's right.

Mr. Hendrickson, You are indeed a brave man. Predictably, each American generation is being propagandized into neat little soldiers of conformity to liberal hypocrisy, spin and ability to ingest huge amounts of barnyard nutrients. My grandparents and parents didn't build our country to the highest standard of living in history to see us take it back to what they fled. Thank you.

I wonder if this is what lemmings think before the forced march to jump in to the sea. Given the rate that China, India, Pakistan and other areas of the world are booming, dismmissing as fiction that humanity has any impact on planet Earth seems a tad wreckless. I can't control China India, or other nations, including ours, in procreation or pollution arenas as an individual, but I can monitor my own activities and conserve where I can and cut down my own impact. I'll try to offset the author's impacts, but it sounds like a tall order since he's so willing to dismiss any responsibility at all for contributing to a non-existent problem from his perspective. Lemmings, Mr. Hendrickson, lemmings!

Al Gore intentionally misrepresented facts about global warming and the causes of global warming, or the current status of global warming. Under the guise that a little deception, a little exageration are OK if the end result is more awareness. The end result is a vicious polarized debate where good people are vilified for defying "the consensus". Now we have no opportunity for real engaged scientific debate as more is learned. Al Gore moved science into the great political divide. All that is giving Al the benefit of the doubt. The benefit that he was not just trying to make money on his share of a carbon credit company. The benefit that he was not just enthralled by all the celebrity worship. The benefit that he was not just trying to poke a stick in the administrations eye. The benfit of actually being aware of the errors he was propigating. The results will impact our lives possibly more negatively that positive from now on. I just think he is a naive fool who got so caught up in his celebrity status that he long ago lost sight of the public good.

Alfred and the rest of the right wing sheep: Yep Al must have made Billions on this idea and that is how he paid 600 scientists to come up with the same conclusions...it is a conspiracy...and the fact that Exxon is paying scientists $10,000 to write articles debunking Global Warming is part of it...and the Fact that "W" is editing NASA reports on Global Warming is also part of it...wow. Alfred and the Righties you called it...Good Job!!

Hey Flowergal...why do you hate so much? Your comments add nothing to the debate...except the rabid name calling that you so called conservatives like to do...I am conservative and I do feel responsible to the environment! This conversation takes on the tone of hysterical red neck jabber. I too have been given much by my grandparents and it is my responsibilty too conserve that my children and grandchildren might have such a beautiful place to live a life like I had. You owe me and my liberal friends to buck up and get on board....conserve...do something for your country and the world except demand more stuff to consume and burn...spell it! C O N S E R V E ative.

3. sadly, it's where it gets most of its info
I don't understand how people can fall for his crap? His show is propaganda of the worst sort: the kind that people will spread while denying it is propaganda. I weep for America when so many fall for his BS and repeat it as part of "debate."

4. And what would you call Bush invoking World War Three ??
I'd go with the man who wants to save the planet,
not the one who wants to irradiate it.
