Have you voted in the DU straw poll of all announced Democratic candidates yet?
The original goal was to get 1,000 votes. There are 811 so far. Surely there are still 189 DUers around here somewhere who haven't voted yet!

And even if you voted days ago, you might find the results so far rather interesting. Check it out, and VOTE if you haven't already!

I'd love to see it get 1,000 votes!

(and you can help keep THIS post kicked up, too!)

Thanks,

DUers are among the most informed Democrats around, they know what's right and they know what's bullshit.

15. I'm convinced more every day that Kucinich is going to be a very
important candidate once the actual votes and caucuses get started. The corporate msm has told us he's not electable, but he is right on every issue. Time and again I see DU posts qualify their support for a supposed front runner, saying they would rather have Kucinich but...
I'm here to tell ya, I believe. We can have the candidate we want. Kucinich can be our president and set a new direction for the twenty first century. I also gotta tell ya, I don't see the front runners making the big changes we need if they get in. Anyone is better than a repug, but Kucinich is the best of the bunch.

19. Sure looks that way to me. I spent half my weekend kicking it up. And I know the originator
of the poll posted a link to it in every candidate forum, here in GD, and in the Lounge.

The whole idea behind setting the goal of getting 1,000 votes in the poll was to make the poll results as accurate a picture of DU sentiment as possible, by getting as big a sample as possible.

It kind of surprised me that it's taken so many days to just get to over 800 votes. Part of it obviously has to do with how difficult it is to keep any one post visible for long enough for lots of people to see it. And who knows how many members are actively here on any day.

But I think that, given all the effort that's gone into publicizing this poll, it probably is a fairly accurate snapshot of which candidates DUers support most.

32. Thanks! Truth is, it kind of suprises me that it's taken this much effort.
When I first saw the poll, and read that the OP was shooting for 1,000 votes, I honestly didn't think it take more than a day and a half at most.

I spent practically my entire Saturday kicking up the poll (yeah, I have no life), and kicking up posts directing people to go vote in the poll. Sunday I had better things to do, so I let it go. But after I got home from work today, I had to go check on how it was doing.

The reason I've put so much effort into this poll is that I feel that it's important to have the empirical evidence that a large sampling of DU presents.

Your support is much appreciated!

Great job!

39. Oh, I totally understand that. I guess I was sort of hoping that there'd be more "community" support
for this particular project. You know, that other DUers would want to help take ownership -- if for no other reason than to prove a point. Because I do think that there is a point being made when you look at the percentages in that poll.

I'm totally aware that there's lots of other things to talk about. I know I passed up alot of interesting threads on Saturday because I was so focused on getting more people to vote on this poll (which is now up to 880 votes -- Woo Hoo!). I'm passing up quite a few threads tonight, too.

I just was really struck by the idea of getting a large number of DUers to participate in one simple action -- voting on a DU poll. Just seemed sort of significant to me for some reason. But then again, I'm kind of crazy, so what do I know. :D

I'm tellin ya folks, Kucinich is going to be a force to contend with once that actual votes get started. I don't care how much farther left than norm DU is supposed to be, I don't buy those corporate sponsored polls that are telling us we don't have a choice in this thing. It aint over till it's over, and this thing isn't even gonna start for another two months.

Thanks for coming back to this thread, it's much appreciated! I just checked and I see that the percentages STILL haven't substantially changed.

Damn interesting, if nothing else. I think it's a given that DUers are among the most informed and involved segment of Democratic voters, so I DO think that this poll is significant in regard to measuring the sentiment of INFORMED Democratic voters.

Thanks again,
