If so, I would be interested to hear of such an option.

...or does this infringe upon First Amendment territory?

Signed,

2. Caller ID, or a message machine. Charities and political parties
can call at will, as can anyone you've done biz with before.

If you tell them to go fuck themselves enough, they'll stop.

4. I have caller ID it comes with our service but
my laundry is downstairs, and when the phone rings, you don't know who's calling. My older son was in the VA hospital and I was afraid not to answer. And suppose it was another family emergency. My relatives are back east. I am so upset that after putting your phone number on the do no call all these telemarketers still call. And you can't tell who they are, because the telephone number and name comes up as unknown. Then you can't report them. So if a telephone number, I don't recognize comes up on the caller ID I won't answer, even if they did get me to come up stairs. Then I go to google and type in the number. Some times it doesn't come up either. But you usually get some website where a person has experienced a call from them and found out who they are. It is also damn annoying that the Firemen and the Police and the political organizations can call. And if you are stupid enough to answer they try to make you feel cheap because you won't donate. If I donated to every charity that called, sent me requests I would be paying out (for a mini mun 10 dollar donation) about 200 dollars or more a month.

5. Nah. Just ask them not to call you any more. Worked for me with the Repubs.

See, back in 2004, I engaged in a Super Secret Strategy--I sent Bush five bucks at the very beginning of the campaign. I got tons and tons of fundraising letters and phone calls, and I always responded to each request with a nice printed letter explaining that I had no money to spare but that I might soon (each time costing them the postage here and back, in addition to the materials and manpower.) And they sent me some thick damn packets; some had like 8.5x11 hi-glossy photos of the Bush family.

When I got calls, I let the person finish their entire 4-minute spiel, occasionally asking stupid questions ("What's the President's view on terrorists threatening our cornfields? How will he keep terrorists from burning our cornfields?") just to keep them on the line. Then I'd say, "well, sure. Let me just...wait, no, I don't have my credit card on me. Sorry; maybe later" than hanging up.

I figure I wasted at least $25 in letters, postage, and materials, as well as a few hours of manpower.

After the election, I said to the next Republican caller that I had "re-registered" Democrat and asked them never to call me again. They didn't.

8. I believe *THAT* is illegal.
> the DCC comes through as "unknown"

I believe *THAT* is illegal. As a political organization,
you can't block their calls via any convenient list, but
they do have to provide valid Caller ID data so that you
can choose to not take the call.

9. next time they call, I will shriek that they are crooks...I can't wait!
they call almost every day, very annoying, esp. now that I am mad about all the votes...the torture a.g., the lack of impeachment, jesh.
