Winter fog arrives early -- 108-vehicle pileup near Fresno
Source: Fresno Bee

Highway 99 south of Fresno -- site of a horrific 108-vehicle pileup this morning in heavy fog that killed a 6-year-old boy and a 28-year-old man -- remained a massive accident investigation scene early this afternoon.

The accident, which happened just before 8 a.m. in the northbound lanes just south of American Avenue, left clusters of crushed steel and broken glass along a one-mile stretch to Clovis Avenue. Dazed drivers and their passengers, those who survived the chaos with only aches and pains, milled around and tried to reach family and friends on cell phones. The smell of spilled fuel and oil wafted through the morning air.

... Officials at the scene said 41 others suffered minor to critical injuries, with 39 of them transported to Fresno and Clovis hospitals.

4. I'm sure the road warriors would blame those damned slow drivers ...
... who made it impossible for them to avoid crashing into them, despite their clear superiority in reaction time and agility.

:eyes:

7. how horrible, my BF drives from Durham to Sacto every Sunday for farmers market-I hope
the weather is better tomorrow. Friday morning it was really, really foggy in Durham (10 miles south of Chico), but Chico was fine, the fog came in about 8-9 am and was thick and low.
