If Obama, Biden, Dodd or Clinton are not willing to make this stand for the Constitution, they don't deserve our support for the Democratic nomination.

I tend to think it's true, but I don't know for sure how that works with a Cabinet nomination who's been voted out of Committee.

Though Reid has indicated he may start ignoring them if they come from his own party. :wtf:

Any Senator can put a hold on any vote for any reason. They can often do so anonymously. It's up to the majority leader to honor the request.

If the confirmation is held up (or, by some miraculous circumstances) defeated, then boooshie will recess appoint whomever he wants and it could easily be Ted Olson or some other weasel...who would remain in the position until the end of boooshie's term.

Two things need to be done. First...is pressure has to be put on "moderate Repugnicans"...BIG TIME pressure as they're going to be the "swing" votes here. If a Collins or Hagel or Smith comes out against Mukasey, it's a whole new ballgame. It also would embolden Democrats to reject him as well...since all that is needed here is 51. Again, I am sure that if boooshie doesn't get this confirmation, he will appoint a far worse "caretaker" through executive order or recess appointment.

And that leads to making sure that things aren't snuck through the backdoor while Congress is on recess. We should start demanding that the House and Senate stay in pro-forma session throughout the holiday break to prevent boooshie from pushing through more appointments (he's got a lot of open positions) or other tricks. This regime can't be trusted....period.
