Obama's mistake raises questions on gay commitment
And the articles keep coming.
But Obama has absolutely nobody to blame but himself for this fiasco.
Ya know?

Sad, disappointed and more than a little hurt. That's how many Americans who are both black and gay sound when they talk about Barack Obama.

What's upsetting them is that the Democratic U.S. senator from Illinois, despite stellar gay-rights positions, sat back and allowed a gospel concert for his presidential campaign to essentially spiral into an anti-gay revival.

How? As part of wooing black evangelicals in high-stakes South Carolina, his campaign gave star-billing at an event to Grammy-winning gospel singer and preacher Donnie McClurkin, a self-identified "ex-gay" claiming to have been saved from "perversion."

When the announcement of McClurkin's inclusion sparked an understandable uproar in the gay and progressive faith communities, Obama issued a big tent statement that condemned "homophobia" and stressed he "strongly" disagrees with McClurkin's views.

But sadly Obama stood by the choice.

1. Ok, so he attended a Cult rally..
that included a charlatan named McClurkin who is still Gay, just lying to himself about it now and a flock of sheep and their Shaman who are nothing short of bigots?? Well he does needs their votes, so he attended and more then likely was no aware of the anti-gay ramblings. Unlike the Rethug candidates, do you think they would go to a Gay Social Forum or be seen on LOGO?? Lets just say that he went into the dragon den and perhaps change a mind or two about the Gay Community.

Since he did stand up as the article professes, which he "condemned "homophobia" and stressed he "strongly" disagrees with McClurkin's views" I do not see why I should be pissed off at him. Now, if he instead participated in the anti-gay drivel, I would have other words about it.

2. You can't really be serious when you say, "...more than
likely was no(t) aware of the anti-gay ramblings," given the fact Obama knew ahead of time that McIdiot called homosexuality a curse, etc. http://www.gaycitynews.com/site/news.cfm?newsid=18978548&BRD=2729&PAG=461&dept_id=568864&rfi=6

You need to realize how damaging people like him are to the battle for gay civil liberties.

Obama ended up selling his soul to the devil because he "needs their votes" as you put it.

And to be honest....what bothers me almost more than the fact Obama embraced a homophobe, is that he and his campaign are blowing it off by arguing it's okay to lobby bigots at their events as long as Obama condemns the message.

That's like lobbying for votes at a KKK cross burning, and then saying, well I don't approve of their behavior but I need their money and votes.

It's completely unacceptable, and Obama should have known better.

You'd think he'd be more sensitive being a minority himself.

This mistake will cost him votes. People who were going to support him are now going to the Edwards and Hillary campaigns.

Obama had a chance to do the right thing and he completely blew it.

3. Obama made a choice: Human Rights v Pandering to Evangelicals
He evidently decided homophobic evangelicals have more money to donate than "the gays" do.
