If you like hate radio and Fox News.... don't do anything, since you will love what will happen after December 18, 2007.

The Republican Chair of the FCC is trying to loosen ownership limits by 12/18/07 so Fox, Clear Channel and other huge media groups(Disney, Time-Warner, etc) can own a greater share the media in each city.

They tried this in 2003, but the public outcry prevented it. The new Republican chair is making an effort to fast-track the rules so the public won't have time to respond. Most of the public won't hear anything about this new effort, since big media already controls most of the news we already get.

Time is very limited and it is crucial each of us contact Congress and the FCC.

Kevin Martin - the chair of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) - has indicated that he wants to vote to loosen media ownership limits as soon as December 18.

Not only did she say it, but then she denied it -- but that was before she did (not) endorse it. She is officially on the record as having "no opinion" pending focus group resolutions.

Main thing someone can do is contact their elected representatives and the FCC. Unfortunately, most Senators and Representatives haven't heard a thing from their constituents yet....Big Media is doing a great job and not letting the public know what the Republican Chair of the FCC is trying to ram through.

But rules for divestiture - to roll back the consolidation that has already taken place - need to be implemented as soon as sanity returns to the FCC.
