Iranians seized by the US military in Iraq released - Apparently no proof of aiding resistance
Iranian consulates reopen in Iraq - US to release Iranians

Nov 6, 2007, 14:17 GMT

Baghdad - The US military in Iraq said Tuesday it would release from custody in the coming days nine Iranians, including five that Tehran insists are diplomats.

US military spokesman Rear Admiral Greg Smith said at a Baghdad press conference that two of the detainees were arrested on suspicion of helping Shiite militias in northern Iraq.

US forces had detained five staff of the Iranian consulate in Arbil, the capital of the autonomous Kurdish region, over charges of offering assistance to armed groups in Iraq. (http://asia.news.yahoo.com/061225/afp/061225101658top.html)

Iran's government (had) denied the allegations and argued that the personnel were diplomats, a claim rejected by the United States.

1. So you mean the Neocon Junta has been lying to us about the Iranians all along?
And, actually, come to think of it, some of the Democrats have been lying about this too?

2. all the 'proof' of their claims they have left which they've presented
is that phony, closed 'press briefing' they held a while back.

It really does highlight the ignorance of those who voted for the Lieberman resolution and have accepted the 'evidence' presented them by this lying administration without question.
