im sorry but the system has been corrupted to much. time to change the system n throw all these special interest bastards in jail.

who gets elected has almost become irrelavent these days. its all the same, different name and different face. one just has a kinder gentler face.

i long for the day that ur average intelligent joe smoe/or jane smoe ;) off the street can become president.
not all these corporate and political insiders.

the money has blinded it all.
ALL of it.
thats all its about now.

to say so shows a severe lack of confidence in people in this country...and while i would agree that alot of people in the country are ignorant and self indulgant, that doesnt mean there arent average people out there with alot of good ideas.
just look around DU ;)

3. I am still hoping it can be a peaceful one
through the ballot.

However, if the GOP again acts as a racketeering organization, it may be our only recourse, as set out in the Declaration of Independence.

Sadly, violent revolutions are not only uncomfortable and dangerous, they rarely turn out the way we want them to.

9. There was a coup in 2000, that was the revolution that installed BFEE
what we need is the rallying around our Constitution and the removal of the domestic enemies of The United States of America, the repeal of all the papering over of our Constitution and Bill of Rights and the application of the law as it existed prior to 1-19-2001.

A restoration of our Constitution is required-that isn't a revolution.

only go to prove that the current system is flawed... because this has been allowed to happen ?
i mean obviously they are cracks and shortcuts around things...
so there for one would tend to believe that the idea of a republic style government is flawed? perhaps we should look to other forms of democracy or hey, make our own style again ?

p.s.

definitely impeach cheney!

21. The current situation is thoroughly corrupted and fascist under the direction
of domestic enemies of The United States of America that have committed high crimes and treason.

The rallying point for all of US is our Constitution, not any of the paper passed by these traitors since they were installed in January 2001.

The "privatization" policies, the buying and selling, the outsourcing and no-bid contracts of what is our government is fascist, it was a revolution decades in the making and incrementally brought about through social engineering policies engineered by domestic enemies of The United States of America.

10. We could assemble a new Continental Congress.
That's how this country has addressed changes in governmental structure in the past. They're significance is that they were organic bodies instituted by the American people and not by the ruling class.

The 1st CC met in September and October of 1774 to protest various actions of the crown. This was the beginning of the national union.

The 2nd CC 1775-1781 was the government during the revolution.

The Constitutional Convention of 1787 can be considered the third CC, though it was not called that.

23. Under the 'Patriot Act' that would constitute insurrection...
All participants would automatically fall under the definition of 'terrorist'. So you see the last Constitutional door has been closed.

Now lets start laying blame ( that is the current American modus operandi isn't it?) Is it the Repugnants? No, because they are what they are to paraphrase Popeye. A lion is a carnivore, to expect it to eat cabbages is absurd. A republican is an Autocrat/Plutocrat/Theocrat...crat ad nauseum: they are hardwired and therefor to expect other than what we get from them is illogical and absurd. So who's to blame. Ahh, the words of the immortal Pogo come directly to mind "We have met the enemy and they are us!"

The Democratic Party and the apathetic Independents allowed all this to take place. All to often they actively supported the efforts. We have only to look at the actions of late by the leadership of the Democratic Party in Congress, as well as such stellar personages as Diane Feinstein to understand who, and how.

So continue to wail loudly and gnash teeth over such weighty issues as giving drivers licences to illegal immigrants and the rights of the Madagascar Hissing roach...might as well because all else is far beyond your reach.

28. A Continental Congress is actually extraconstitutional.
The members of the 2nd CC which signed the Declaration and waged war against Britian were seen as traitors and, therefore, criminals by the crown.

The real problem with any sort of restructuring of the government is that every lunatic interest group will know that it will be its chance to enshire its own concerns into permanent law.

31. The perceived illegality was my point.
I don't know if it is promising or not as there is no way to tell what the net result would be.

My own reading of the law is that the Constitution of 1787 purports to bind that generation only and the 1st Amendment explicitly protects such activities. "or ourselves and our posterity" speaks to the benefits of the Constitution and not an intent to bind all future generations to it. So when we talk about the Patriot Act, we are really talking about the government acting illegally under an illegal statute.

33. well sort of....
No law or directive or rule is invalid as unconstitutional until it has been addressed by the courts. So until such time as the
'Patriot Act' is brought before the USSupCt it is the 'law of the Land'.

35. No. SCOTUS is the final authority on constitutionality. ...
It is not the only one. Unconstitutionality is a legitimate reason not to pass a law and a legitimate reason to veto one. The court presumes the constitutionality of all laws it reviews. Great deference is given to the judgments of Congress and the president on that matter.

What is more, the court only reviews actual cases and controversies. If a matter can be disposed on procedural or non constitutional grounds, it will be.
If a law is not the subject of a legal dispute between actual parties, it will not be subjected to judicial review. If the law prevents a party from bringing a suit, such as with a denial of habeas corpus to prisoners of war, then that law will never be reviewed.

We should not be willing to assume that only SCOTUS has a right to decide if a law is constitutional or not. While they have the final legal judgment on the matter, we must all decide for ourselves. That is what it means to be a free citizen.

the question really is, how much can people REALLY tolerate... i say probably alot until it directly effects them in a way thats important...
IE their way of life or living drastically

people in this country are VERY self absorbed

30. there will be no revolution
Truth is, most people in this country have things far better than people did 200 years ago. People are docile because we have -- for the most part -- created a country in which people have more leisure time, more diversions, more food, etc. than people did at the time of the revolution. There is no incentive to revolt because most people have things OK. And we have apparently lost -- as a nation-- our love of freedom that motivated our founding fathers. Higher aspirations do not inspire us any more.

17. Yes, it is, and no it doesn't.
As we are seeing now, and have been seeing for my whole life, no change will be allowed under the current rulers, ever.

We have become a nation of ignorant wage slaves and the only marginally viable product we have left is our military. Another thing that seems to have escaped the notice of the majority is that this same military that has bankrupt our nation, has become so rife with corruption that we have failed to conquer the equivalent of the state of California.

Historically, when an empire reaches the point we are at now it's collapse is inevitable. The only question is, do the rulers believe that they have reached the point of diminishing returns in their loot-fest? Once they determine that the answer to that is yes, they will move on and we will be utterly shocked to "discover" that all we thought we were and had has been hollowed out and only the waste is left.

the U.S. even of a vast majority of Americans were in favor. The people don't seem to have access to enough real power. Demonstrations and boycotts have some effect but not enough to overcome the strengths of the criminals now in charge.

27. When the people we elected to congress
refuse to actually work on behalf of us, what else are we to do? We the people hired them to end the war. We the people hired them to put bush on a short leash. We the people hired them to rip up bush's blank checkbook. They have done none of those things (I know there are exceptions, just not enough). They cower. They kiss ass. They need to be fired. Sitting behind the keyboard signing petitions, DU'ing polls and writing LTTE's isn't really going to change anything. The media refuses to give us a true voice. For one of our Keith Olbermann's, we get 100 of their o'riellys, coulters, hannitys, etc. Our voices are drowned out by the right wing noise machine. Our opinions and mandates go disregarded and unheeded. What else are we to do? Do we keep allowing ourselves to be backed further and further into the corner? Do we just give up and surrender OUR country to these evil people? One time people fought a war on our own soil to keep this nation from becoming that which we abhorred. This nation is becoming that which we once declared war upon other countries for being. When they steal yet another election and further rape democracy, what will we do? Yell some more? Write more letters? Take more polls? Call our congressmen? Assholes like bush and his criminal cabal, and the kool-aid drinkers who enable them have declared war on us. What else are we to do? Return the fucking favor.
