Senate Panel Probes 6 Top Televangelists
WASHINGTON (CBS) ―

CBS News has learned Sen. Charles Grassley of Iowa, the ranking Republican on the Senate Finance Committee, is investigating six prominent televangelist ministries for possible financial misconduct.

Letters were sent Monday to the ministries demanding that financial statements and records be turned over to the committee by December 6th.

According to Grassley's office, the Iowa Republican is trying to determine whether or not these ministries are improperly using their tax-exempt status as churches to shield lavish lifestyles.

The six ministries identified as being under investigation by the committee are led by: Paula White, Joyce Meyer, Creflo Dollar, Eddie Long, Kenneth Copeland and Benny Hinn. Three of the six - Benny Hinn, Kenneth Copeland and Creflo Dollar - also sit on the Board of Regents for the Oral Roberts University.

Though part of me - the cynical part of me - is curious that a Republican is doing this. Perhaps he's bringing them to investigation now so that he can influence the findings to "nothing found wrong", before a Democrat goes after them and actually persecutes.

I hope I'm wrong.

Benny Hinn and Creflo Dollar and Paula White absolutely have to be taken down and exposed as the fucking asshole evil fraud fucks that they are.

I'm sure the other three are equally devilish, but I'm not familiar with them.

Old "I still mow my own lawn" Grassley? Wow. He's starting to come around. Very slowly, but at least he's got two things right. SCHIP and this. I wonder if he's actually starting to listen and pay attention to what we Iowans are saying? Nah, that's too much to hope for.
And Creflo Dollar? Perfect name for a con man, er Televangelist.
