Pelosi Announces Iraq Withdrawal Vote Friday
Pelosi's New Plan: No War Funding Bill If Bush Vetoes Iraq Withdrawal

Pelosi Announces Iraq Withdrawal Vote Friday

Speaker Nancy Pelosi said the House will vote as early as Friday on legislation that would spend $50 billion on the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan but require that President Bush start bringing troops home.
The money is about a quarter of the $196 billion requested by Bush. It would finance about four months of combat in Iraq, Pelosi told reporters on Thursday.

"This is not a blank check for the president," she said at a Capitol Hill news conference.
"This is providing funding for the troops limited to a particular purpose, for a short time frame," she added.

6. Finance NOTHING, Nancy.
He knew eventually someone would cut him off. He's got enough money stockpiled to bring the troops home NOW and then some. Ask Rumsfeld for the rest out of his left over petty cash.

I don't have any reason to believe she'll follow through. If Bush is the boy who cried wolf, Nancy is the girl who just cried and cowered under a bush.

11. And, when he vetoes it, Nancy,
SEND IT FUCKING BACK TO HIM OVER AND OVER AGAIN!!

Keep your word this time, Nancy.

I'm not encouraged, and won't be until I see that she either keeps sending this bill back, or sends no funding bill at all. If she caves again, we should call for an immediate change in the so-called leadership.

16. But, but, but, if I actually do my job as Speaker...
those Repugs might not like me. Or worse, they might call me a poopyhead. I just don't know what to do because I so want those Repugs to like me. If I keep turning the other cheek, maybe someday they will get tired of slapping me and then we can get down to business.

Preemptive capitulation means never having to say "no", and we all want to be agreeable people now, don't we?

19. I think the wording of this bill is weak though isn't it?
Still allows Bush to leave troops there for anti-terra ops and training. He could bring 20 troops home and say he's in complaince.

wing of the Democratic party pulling the correct lever. If she wants to stop the war, she needs to leave the funding bills off the table.

Have a nice day, Paul!

On edit: May I also remind you that some progressive Democrats agree with me that the funding should be pulled? So your own opinion that she is doing "something right" is open to debate, even by Greens like me. :)

30. Did She Stamp Her Little Feet?
When she threatened to hit him with her purse?

I suppose Madame Squeaker has to bash her head on every last brick wall of this DemocRat's Maze before it's possible she comes to her senses and see that Impeachment is her ONLY moral, patriotic, (and legal, legislative, electoral, diplomatic...) option.

The only question now is how long the regime stalls (rather chuckles) before announcing that, with all the great success in Iraq, they now have all the funding they need for the foreseeable future (check and mate).

Or was everyone expecting war criminals to fold their tents rather than fund illegally?

It's past time to stop being "Anti-War" and start being "Pro-Impeachment."

No, you can't ride two horses with the same behind.
