Let's draft the young'uns and see how freaking fast they say Obama who?
Hmmm. lets try that. You all that think that Obama's generational back stabbing is being over-reacted to by us Boomers, then lets see how a draft works out.

Seems to my recollection of the 60's, me being a later boomer (1957), things rather SUCKED. It was the people who demonstrated, marched, and fought for the very things you enjoy now while the Rove types sat in their dorm rooms figuratively, and literally.

No internet then kiddies. You actually HAD to go outside. Your neighbor was being drafted and your older bothers friends were getting letters reuesting their services from Lyndon and Nixon. You see, that's how changes in societies generally occur, they go OUTSIDE.

Now not that I am not sympathetic to the later generations, the Boomers have controlled and managed your lives for the better and worse. But do not be so hasty to buy into the coming shots across the bow that are the harbingers of the newest fad to become the media talking point...the verdict, the Boomers fucked up everything and did not do shit, so therefore Obama and his quasi-republican marketing team can test drive the latest wedge issue out on you "youngsters". Don't fall for it. You are better than that.

Some people at Kent state were executed for what they believed in, African Americans marched for their basic rights, we gays began our march towards being considered.

So just be a bit reflective that the 60's and the early 70's ARE the reason you are not getting a letter from the government requesting your body.

If you don't think that's a FACT, then one thing that spans our generation to yours maybe should be put down for awhile, that being the bong.

1. Generation Sobchak
Walter Sobchak: Those rich fucks! This whole fucking thing... I did not watch my buddies die face down in the muck so that this fucking strumpet...
The Dude: I don't see any connection to Vietnam, Walter.
Walter Sobchak: Well, there isn't a literal connection, Dude.
The Dude: Walter, face it, there isn't any connection.

Because I don't understand why some of these ZEROs are still on the board.

(I used to be good with metaphors too, lol!)

4. Ground work for the shit going on now was set up in 70's & 80's by NOT-BOOMERS
It is the offspring of the self-appointed ruling class from then running the now. Not so much about generation as about class warfare. Using generational divisions is just one more diversion from the reality of the class warfare/class genocide that has been going on since before my granddad was a gleam in my great granddad's eye.

It's class warfare and the way the upper class (with less numbers) keeps winning is by making sure the rest of us are always at each other's throats instead of storming the palaces.

11. BTW, Clinton and Shrub are the only Boomer presidents so far
And Clinton did a damn fine job cleaning up the mess left for him.

Be patient, child, your generation's time will come.

15. I am not the one trying to rewrite the 60's and early 70's. Nor am I the one
supporting a guy that is craven enough to pull this stunt on another Democrat, and with a twofer bonus of giving credibility to the Republicans that revise history as a hobby, and giving the MSM another bullshit issue.

Oh and thanks for the compliment.

24. Some Boomer accomplishments: longest economic expansion in U.S. history...
Edited on Fri Nov-09-07 06:47 AM by Perry Logan
The Boomers have some accomplishments--mostly under Bill Clinton:

Lowest infant mortality rate in American history
Highest home ownership in American history
Lowest unemployment in 30 years
Largest expansion of college opportunity since the GI Bill
Lowest poverty rate in 20 years
Lowest teen birth rate in 60 years
Deactivated more than 1,700 nuclear warheads from the former Soviet Union: efforts of the Clinton-Gore Administration led to the dismantling of more than 1,700 nuclear warheads, 300 launchers and 425 land and submarine based missiles from the former Soviet Union
Lowest government spending in three decades
Lowest federal income tax burden in 35 years
More families owned stock than ever before
Unemployment at Its Lowest Level in More than 30 Years
Highest Home ownership Rate on Record
Largest Surplus Ever
The Most U.S. Exports Ever
The African American and elderly poverty rates dropped to their lowest level on record
The Hispanic poverty rate dropped to its lowest level since 1979
Lowest Poverty Rate for Single Mothers on Record: under President Clinton, the poverty rate for families with single mothers fell from 46.1 percent in 1993 to 35.7 percent in 1999, the lowest level on record
Smallest Welfare Rolls Since 1969
Lowest Federal Income Tax Burden in 35 Years

More recently, Democrats passed the College Cost Reduction and Access Act--landmark legislation, which makes the largest investment in student financial aid since passage of the GI Bill in 1944 and will expand college opportunities for many students.

P.S.: I hasten to say I don't want to draft ANYBODY.
