Ex-NYC top cop surrenders to feds

Former NYC Top Cop Bernard Kerik Surrenders; Expected to Be Indicted on Fraud Charges

JIM FITZGERALD
AP News

Nov 09, 2007 09:12 EST

Former New York City police commissioner Bernard Kerik surrendered Friday to face federal corruption charges.

A law enforcement official, speaking to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the indictment had not been unsealed, confirmed that Kerik had surrendered to await a court appearance later Friday.

Kerik is named in the federal indictment that will be unsealed later Friday, according to a person close to the investigation, speaking on condition of anonymity because of the secrecy of grand jury proceedings.

The U.S. attorney's office said it would hold an 11:30 a.m. EST news conference with FBI and Internal Revenue Service officials in White Plains "to announce an indictment of a former public official." The office had no further comment.

3. Does this raise any questions about Giuliani's leadership skills?
Edited on Fri Nov-09-07 09:44 AM by gratuitous
What am I saying? Of course not!

But if we did live in a world where a candidate was endlessly trumpeting his chimerical leadership skills, and he had handed the most important appointment of his career to an accused felon, it would require some sort of explanation from the candidate. Fortunately, we live in a country where the media know their place, keep their traps shut about such things, and focus on important things, like how much a candidate claps or where a candidate gets his hair cut.

5. did you hear Joe Scarbourgh this morning suggesting Kerik was framed?
At first I thought he was joking, but then I realized he must have been faxed the talking point this morning.

1. Bash Clinton
2. Kerik was framed.

And, he completed his assignment for the day.

6. Framed by who?
or didn't Joe (dead intern) Scarborough elucidate that point? Probably not - he's real good at just throwing spaghetti at the wall. Was Joe drunk again? I used to just watch him when he used to be after KO just to see if he was drunk - hehe.
