Could you survive as a refugee?
I saw this in a news article on the BBC.

Do you have what it takes to survive a dictatorship and get out alive?

We may never know, but for some of us, this is an eye opening learning tool.

3. I'm doomed
If being a refugee means having to navigate my body with the efficiency of a Roomba, I won't be able to get out my front door, let alone out of town. But it was a neat concept anyway.

8. I don't know about this simulation game
But talking to internal refugees in Chiapas, I would say that no, I don't have what it takes to be a refugee. The incredible privation and hardship those people go through every day humbled me greatly. The story of their moving under cover of night from one area to another (men, women, children and babies in arms) to avoid being captured by the state police or a group of "militia" would make for a compelling book or movie. Scratching out a living day by day under the watchful eye of the very people who chased them from their homes in the first place. Hiding from attacks. And then petitioning the government that made them refugees for redress and relief.

Nope, not me. And I know that for a fact.

9. Thank you for your honesty
And you're right, the stories these people tell are hair-raising. They are all heroes in the truest sense of that word.

I ran the simulation with an eye toward learning what the narrative was when I did certain things. I.e., IRL, I would have been dead at the 2nd or 3d police interrogation. And I'm not very good at following instructions. I had to run the packing simulation three times before I understood the on screen instructions about how to pack.

10. Well, that didn't go well. First, I kept failing the police interrogation.
