Where on earth does the GOP find these people? We are gonna have to start a spreadsheet and database just to keep all of the GOP perverts straight.
Former Clark County GOP chairman charged with sexual assaultUpdated: Nov 9, 2007 06:53 PM EST
LOUISVILLE (WAVE) -- An investigation of the former chairman of the Clark County Young Republicans has now led to charges. He is accused of sexually assaulting another man while he slept. WAVE 3's Caton Bredar was in the courtroom and reports on the hearing.
Glenn Murphy, Jr. was at one time described a rising star in Indiana's Republican Party. Now he's out on $25,000 bail facing criminal charges of deviant sexual assault.
Murphy was in Clark County Superior Court Friday for an initial hearing into the incident. The 33-year-old pled not guilty to charges of sexually assaulting a 22-year-old man while the man slept.
The incident supposedly happened July 29, following a young Republicans gathering and night of drinking at the victim's sisters house. According to the probable cause affidavit, Murphy admits on tape to his accusor of committing the act.
"I don't know what evidence the state intends to offer in this case or not, and we'll deal with whatever evidence the state offers at the time," said James Voyles, Murphy's attorney.
"The affadavit speaks for itself and I'm not going to talk about the case until I do in the courtroom," said Stanley Levco, special Clark Co. Prosecutor. "Credibility could be an issue at the trial, but we'll just have to see what happens at the trial."
Voyles said Friday that he hasn't heard the tapes yet, so he can't say whether or not he will fight to keep them from being used as evidence.
A pre-trial hearing is scheduled for early January, with a trial by jury scheduled April 1st.
