2 Men Arrested in Missouri Girl's Death
Wow... waking up this morning and reading this has me blown away. I read the story last night that the girl's body had been found and the first thing that popped into my mind was "the stepfather did it". Why did I think that? I don't know, it was just a feeling that came over me because of the picture that accompanied the story. I can't find it now, but the picture showed the mother & stepfather right after they had been told her body had been found. The mother was totally distraught, tore up, crying, etc, while the stepfather was standing there with arm around her in a half-assed manner and his face was totally absent of ANY emotion whatsoever. I was going to post the story last night, along with the picture and a statement saying "I'm telling you right now, *this* man killed that little girl", but I was tired as hell and got distracted by my kids... I hope they fry this bastard.

NEOSHO, Mo. (AP) - The stepfather of a 9-year-old girl whose body was found Friday in a hillside cave in southwest Missouri was arrested in her death, authorities said.

Newton County Sheriff Ken Copeland said 24-year-old David Spears was arrested in the death of Rowan Ford.

"The stepfather was a possible suspect," Copeland told The Associated Press. "I will confirm that he has been arrested, as well as one of his friends."

Copeland said a 24-year-old man from Wheaton, in adjacent Barry County, was also arrested. Charges had not been filed as of Friday night.

Rowan's body was found on private land about 10 miles south of the girl's hometown of Stella, a village of about 200 people, Copeland said.

1. This occured about 50 miles from me
I've been watching the news reports about little Rowan for the last week. When the stepfather was on the news, all his sniveling "she's my little girl" stuff seemed phoney to me.

4. I don't know what it was, but that's the first thing that popped into my head
when I saw his picture. It was a strange, but not unfamiliar, feeling. I have a damned good track record when it comes to "reading people"... maybe it has to do with the lifestyle I used to live and working as a bouncer for several years, I don't know... all I do know is that when I get a very strong feeling like I did on this one, I'm rarely, if ever, wrong.

7. I don't think that's punishment enough for someone like this...
but I respect your opinion and stance on this also.

2. That poor woman, that poor family, that poor little girl.
On the right side of this page are videos and more links about the story.

What the stepfather and his friend did is disgusting. Vile creatures... I'd call them animals but animals are above this kind of behavior.

I can't understand how anyone could do something like this.

Cassville, Mo: 24 year-old David Spears, Rowan's step father, and his friend, 32 year-old Chris Collings are charged with murdering and raping Rowan Ford a week ago. Both men are charged with 1st degree murder, forcible rape with a weapon and statutory sodomy.

Ky3's Paul Adler spoke with the Barry County sheriff at the spot where he believes Rowan spent her last moments alive. Look for his reports at 6 and 10P.M.

An affidavit alleges that both men raped the girl and that one of them then strangled her with a cord. Authorities did not say which man used the cord. Rowan's body was found Friday in a cave in neighboring McDonald County.

Barry County Sheriff Mick Epperly says he asked the prosecutor to file charges against both suspects. Epperly says the affidavit was based in part on a statement from the friend.

I fully and unequivocally support the death penalty 1000% for a scumbag like this. I say this without remorse or guilt. I stand behind my support and will not waiver, will not back down, will not change my mind about it and will not apologize for it. I know other people feel just as strongly against the death penalty, and that is your right and your opinion. I won't fault you for it, nor will I argue with you about it. We won't change each others minds, so why try?

I just think that with the technology we have today, it would be hard to wrongly convict someone of rape or murder if there was DNA evidence available. I know that doesn't help the ones sitting in prison now that were wrongly convicted, but they *are* starting to make some headway on these cases too. I fully support continuing investigations into more cases, so more innocent people can be set free. I honestly think that they should impose an "indefinite stay" of ALL executions in cases where there was no confession and "iffy" evidence, like no DNA or eyewitnesses and/or where the defendant steadfastly maintained his/her innocence and still does to this day. Saving an innocent life is worth every penny spent in the course of re-investigating these cases. However, if you confessed, were caught red handed or linked by DNA you are still on the "active" list.

5. If they find these guy's...
... dna in this girl, I would pull the switch myself.

I don't care about their "redemption", I don't care about the alcohol, I don't care about any of it - if it is proven beyond any doubt these guys did it, they should pay the only price that could approach being justice.

At least they won't be tortured like that little girl was.
