Bolton urges full US support for Musharraf

UNITED NATIONS:Former US envoy to the UN, John Bolton, on Friday questioned the need for elections in Pakistan and urged full support for General Pervez Musharraf as the “best hope” for keeping the country's nuclear weapons secure. Bolton told reporters here. “I think the answer is to support Musharraf.” He suggested US President George Bush's administration has “contributed to some of the (current) instability (in Pakistan) by implying less than robust support of Musharraf.

I don't know, he might be mostly right about this one. Pakistan is one area
where we can agree with the neocons--this is not the time or place to do anything more than pay lip service to democracy. We can verbally encourage Musharraf to stop acting like a dictator, but beyond that, it's a watch-and-wait.

6. No surprise, there. He always was an anti-democracy advocate.
When has anything he has stated or asserted been right?

He's just an asshole, no more or less.
