1. I had to give him an F because he didn't call for impeachment.

3. Remember, he only had 8 minutes
But yes, I am hoping for impeachment soon.

2. B+
Grade inflation is a bad thing.

He said the right things, but it wasn't terribly rousing.

7. You're Only Partially Right
It wasn't 'rousing' but it sure was sobering. I think that is what it was ment to be, a sobering reminder that there are indeed grownups in the world, and George is not one of them.

20. Yea, it was a sobering message
but I would have enjoyed some minor manifestations of conviction.

I was busy trying to determine whether there was one or two teleprompters.

Don't get me wrong - B+ is "very good." An 'A' should be reserved for something
that makes me cheer/cry/react in some way other than make me nod.

22. I understand - not trying to affect how you felt
But I gave him an A+ because I thought it was what a Response should be and it gave me confidence that he really feels what I feel and isn't the typical politician. This was the kind of speech that could even convince Republicans.

16. He started out a bit nervous I guess
Edited on Tue Jan-23-07 11:00 PM by mvd
Thought he recovered nicely, though. There was only one thing I would have done differently: he shouldn't have changed "against the war" to "against the handling of the war."

26. He DID say though that he had been against it from the first
mention, so I took that being against the handling of the war as a representation of the Public's attitude toward it.

27. I liked the fact he emphasized that, too
I'm giving him an A+, so I don't think the change was a big deal. It's just something I noticed.

31. I've been just giddy since he said it!
It's been my personal term for the greedy CEO's and corporatocracy for some time now. It is a term that the average american understands completely...almost instinctively.

And his explanation of our economic situation was simple, straightforward, and full of common-sense.
Anyone in middle america who heard him, got it.

32. The republican response to the minimum wage increase. It will hurt small business.
The rational was that the people at the bottom get a two dollar an hour raise. Then everyone wants a two dollar an hour raise. Ooooookay so if the CEO gets a 400 Million Dollar Bonus. The next day everyone in the company wants their 400 Million Dollar Bonus too. Right?

34. Sen Webb absolutely knocked it out of the park!
Bush is a giggling idiot.
Webb was stern and dead serious without the usual kowtow crapola about bipartisan hokey.

These are stern and serious times with a desperate need for a stern, serious outlook and a compulsion for telling the bottom line, no bullshit truth.
I was in blood pressure city until a couple minutes into Webb's speech and he calmed it down. THIS is what I expect to see when I view a U S senator, not the lying, transparently sub average mumblings that so often pass for senatorial thinking.
