A category 4 hurricane (cyclone) is heading to Calcutta. ANY interest, US media?
Tropical Cyclone Sidr, a powerful Category 4 storm with 140 mph winds, is bearing down on the densely populated coasts of Bangladesh and India. Landfall is expected along a low-lying stretch of coast just east of Calcutta (Kolkata), India in just 36 hours.

18. To the degree they're able (not much), Bangladesh is evacuating coastal towns ...
... and moving people to shelters. It's appalling that we're going to treat a natural disaster MORE as entertainment (and news ratings) than investing in saving lives. I think 75,000 is a very conservative estimate of the death toll ... in the next 48-72 hours. Appalling.

This is a major catastrophe in the making for human beings. Your 'lack of interest' in it because of other things happening in the world is noted, however, for whatever reason.

Actually I am very interested in it. I am a weather junkie, especially fascinated by tropical cyclones. Watching them is one of my hobbies.

The so-called MSM, which I don't follow, will run stories about it if it turns into a human catastrophe. Right now it's only a potential catastrophe.

So there.

As I am in all tropical disturbances, and the weather in general.

Some people really do read a lot of things into peoples' posts. You assumed all kinds of things about me and my attitude. Did it even occur to you to ask me how I felt about it? Evidently not.

Another knee-jerk reaction on DU. No news.

that I would expect from my progressive president:

1) Already be preparing to provide support to the people of that region;

2) Already be involved with helping upgrade the situations of those areas;

3) Already be SERIOUSLY addressing the necessary actions to reverse the problems of global warming and climate change.

are we expected to provide humanitarian relief?

And do Global Warming cries get louder?

A few days ago, CNN's Glenn Beck was hawking his 'Global Warming is a scam' talking points. I guess this story has too much potential to make him look foolish.
