16. Party line Yes=Dem and No=Rep support your pres, not the troops
The occupation goes on for what, another six years ? This can't be sustained and they know it but vote for whatever * wants.

Vote R's out of office.

22. But only in the initial stage, when it's purely symbolic.
It goes like this:

Round 1
Bush Admin: We demand fill in the blank!
Dems: You can only have part of fill in the blank, and only with conditions.

Round 2
Bush Admin: We demand fill in the blank.
Dems: Ok. Anything else?

I'm not sure I call that "standing up".

12. The White House, on cue promised a veto
http://www.nytimes.com/2007/11/15/washington/15cong.html?_r=1&ref=world&oref=slogin

<snip>
“This is for political posturing and to appease radical groups,” Ms. Perino said. “The Democrats believe these votes will somehow punish the president, but it actually punishes the troops.”

The House action on the supplemental war spending bill followed approval by 270 to 147 of a $105.6 billion spending bill, largely for the Departments of Transportation and Housing and Urban Development. The House also authorized $5 million for the Museum of the History of Polish Jews in Warsaw.
