I don't think 2008 will be like 2004
In 2008, will the Republicans be playing as hard, as dirty, as sleazy, as anti-American, as they did in 2004?

Absolutely NOT.

They'll be even worse.

But the thing is, I think Americans are so fatigued -

- by the crappy economy
- the constant promise of terror and fear from Bush/Republicans
- by the lack of ANY action out of Washington (beyond whatever is required to maintain the status quo)
- by the changes Bush/Republicans have wrought in this country, from high gas prices to the pillaging of our treasury
- by the ENDLESS stream of scandals coming out of Washington, pretty much daily
- the complete dishonesty and corruption surrounding our government
- by the knowledge of our shattered and tattered world image

and lots more stuff.

I think this fatigue will not allow the creation of the kind of energy we saw in 2004, where huge crowds would chant together, "flip-flop," where Republicans were SO certain THEY were right. I don't think we'll see that sort of thing in 2008.

I just don't think we have the energy for it...

1. The far right do
Their hate and ignorance knows no bounds.

But 75% of America will tune them out because we're tired of their lies and hypocrisy.

2. Whew, it was especially fatiguing when no one knew about the crap going on in DC.
I'm liking the shining of a few flickers of light, myself.

*knocks on wood here*

Bush and his hapless band of twits have screwed this nation up so bad that the GOP will be in the minority for a few good cycles...

4. IOW it will be more like 2006
Too bad more folks didn't wake up before November 2004.

5. One important thing will be different.
The election reform activists that have been working all this time to build a network will NOT be caught flatfooted. We have been in their pocketbook and we KNOW where they live.
