C'mon DU brains! Let's brainstorm. Is there any way to combat a politician who instigates fear...

of the unknown into the electorate? From the outset, it's like political poison. Once it enters the bloodstream of political discourse in an election, it appears to be almost impossible to eradicate.

But maybe there's something we're overlooking? What can be done to combat fear mongering?

... we're screwed ... and we deserve it. Politicians must be more fearful of the People than the People fear the polticians.

2. That's true, but that doesn't really address what I'm asking...

I'm talking about the erecting of boogeymen in order to stir fear and win elections.

8. Nothing I have seen in all that time has made any difference except

the brief period post vietnam Carter Administration. Carter didn't stand a chance, they nailed him with oil shortages, and intel on Iran, & bad military advice. Before you knew it we were back on track in a big ass way with reyguns.

5. I think Biden did a great job in the last debate. He didn't say we

shou;dn't be afraid of anything, but that we are afraid of the WRIONG things! All the other candidates were discussing Iran and should we attack them. Joe said, we are focusing on the wrong thing! Of course we don't want Iran to get a nuke weapon, but our real problem is Pakistan!!! They are
VERY unstable, and they already HAVE nukes! Less than 3 days later, Pakistan fell apart!!!!

I think that's the way to deal with the "fear" tactics. the way to deal with it is to point out the real truth! WHO is the REAL enemy? Be honest with the American people, and tell them where the real problems are, and where we shouldn't be!
