Help DU this poll - good idea for LAPD to map Muslim communities?
http://news.aol.com/story/_a/city-puts-muslim-mapping-plan-on-hold/20071115092309990001?ncid=NWS00010000000001

So far, 65% of respondents think it's perfectly okay for LAPD's counterterrorism unit to map out Muslim communities to identify areas that might become homes for "violent, ideologically based extremism".

I'm glad to see that the city has agreed to put this plan 'on hold'. :sarcasm: Why not just round them all up and put them in "detention camps" while they're at it? How in the world anyone thought that something like this would be acceptable is beyond me.

1. Done.
The LAPD can barely even handle conducting actual law enforcement effectively, nevermind counter-terrorism operations.

4. I remember quite clearly
The early hours of the Los Angeles Riots when the cops who responded to the trouble going down at Florence and Normandy who left the scene and let the rioters pull out people from the vechicles while the news choppers taped it and wondered where the hell the LAPD was. The Chief of Police was out of town too, most likely knowing that the not guilty verdict would cause all hell to break loose.

2. Who said the Nazis were gone, along with the "Good" Germans?
I find it truly amazing that after the Holocaust, and the detention of Japanese American citizens that people in this country would still advocate a Hitlerian policy based on someone's race or religion!

Working at the US Holocaust Museum here in D.C. I see different groups who come to be educated. Military, law enforcement, foreign diplomats, and schools. But with something like this I have started to wonder if those groups come here to learn how not to do what Hitler did, or to figure out how to do it better and make it acceptable to the brain dead cowards that make up the American public?

With this plan by the LAPD, I guess I'll be leaning toward the latter and not the former.
