Larisa Alexandrovna: What's Missing From Coverage Of Hastert Resignation? Two Words - Sibel Edmonds
http://www.atlargely.com/2007/11/corruption-roun.html

Can anyone guess what is missing from this article and all mainstream articles about Denny Hastert? Two words: Sibel Edmonds. From a 2005 Vanity Fair article:

Edmonds has given confidential testimony inside a secure Sensitive Compartmented Information facility on several occasions: to congressional staffers, to investigators from the O.I.G., and to the staff from the 9/11 commission. Sources familiar with this testimony say that, in addition to her allegations about the Dickersons, she reported hearing Turkish wiretap targets boast that they had a covert relationship with a very senior politician indeed—Dennis Hastert, Republican congressman from Illinois and Speaker of the House since 1999. The targets reportedly discussed giving Hastert tens of thousands of dollars in surreptitious payments in exchange for political favors and information. “The Dickersons,” says one official familiar with the case, “are only the tip of the iceberg.”

Edmonds has been under a State Secrets gag order since 2002.

1. I will take the day off work and hold an all day celebration when
Hastert goes away to prison. Somehow, Sibel Edmonds will get her story out and Denny will get what he deserves.

8. Gawd I hope so! It would be none too soon!
It's way past time her story was told. Would Keith Olbermann consider doing a special on her? It would certainly be a blockbuster!

7. Run, Dennis, run!
You'll want to make sure it's to a country that doesn't have an extradition treaty with the U.S.

Thank you, Larisa.

9. A question about Sibel Edmonds.
Apparently she is willing to face prosecution and tell her story, with one condition: That a major network give her unfettered air time. I do not understand this. If her story is so important, and she's willing to deal with the consequences, why doesn't she just offer a press release or a letter to the Washington Post, or a Greg Palast interview, or ALL of the above?

It's almost like a signal to somebody that the story is close to coming out.

18. impact
if sibel writes a press release then it will get ignored and she will go to jail FOR NO REASON.

Look at the Vanity Fair article. Nothing happened as a result.

21. You're right about this. She is smart enough to know that
if she's going to go to prison, then it has to be worth it. If it's on the major networks, it will make an impact because most people do not read articles in Vanity Fair, The New Yorker, etc. -- they just cause an underground uproar (like here on DU) and then die a quiet death.

She's very smart.

And more patriotic than most people in government.

10. Sibel Edmonds has been missing from too many powerful Dems' lips, too.
And I don't think it's for any 'good' reason.

I think there are too many Dems in power now who believe in closed government and in protecting secrecy and privilege of the elite powerstructure.

We need to expose them and replace them with anti-corruption, open government Democrats who believe government should be accountable to the people.

17. Big K&R, many Dems seem to be compromised....

Add the Turkish corruption to the tie-in with the AQ Khan nuclear network and something really, really stinks in Washington DC. There are a multitude of ways that they can profit from the War on Terror, which just makes it more clear that this is all a big game being played at the taxpayer's expense.

I don't know how to post an MP3 here, but here is a link to a discussion that Scott Horton and I had. Toward the end, we start getting into the Sibel Edmonds case:

Those who continue to SWEAR change happens from the inside are lying to themselves because THEY ARE THE INSIDE,...they have become "the establishment".

Damnit. Allow the truth OUT!!! The American people CAN HANDLE IT!!!!

32. Larissa has her interview at Scott Horton's show at her site!
Towards the end of the interview (It's lengthy and meaty) she discusses Hastert and intimes that there are many congressfolk similarly compromised.

Worth the time!
