I know two. One is a raving conservative former marine. The other is an even tempered former Special Ops guy. Just wondering if anyone here has any experience with either outfit on a personal level.

2. I know two who were heavily recruited.
One by each, if I remember correctly. One was a scary-cool left-wing Marine, one was an even-tempered special ops guy. Both said no.

3. Two, possibly 3.

Retired Army men, who saw that as the best way to support their families.
I believe they are in their 40s.

4. I do.
I know a guy who actually brags about his Blackwater job. They send him "on missions"
occasionally (he's an independent contractor, of course, which means no
benefits). After several beers one night, he admitted that his big
"Katrina mission" was guarding a (wealthy) private citizen's home. He just did the same thing
during the California fires.

I am not impressed.

5. My second cousin, originally trained as a sniper, has been freelancing for many years.
He's worked as a "security contractor" for several agencies and been to such places as Iraq, Afghanistan, and Colombia.

6. Ex husband of my sister in-law
Former Marine, former prison guard, former alcoholic, found Jesus, married my sister in-law, decided he was gay after all, left my sister in-law, joined Blackwater. He's a sadistic little thing and he's in the middle east somewhere.

7. Yup
A young guy who had just gotten out, went to a party, and knocked up some girl.

He even tried to recruit ME, if you can believe that shit. I had to remind him that I'm not ex-military, my martial arts instructors were.
