Army secretary: Hoosier's death isolated case
Having such a display of incompetence and indifference getting press coverage is most likely the only "isolated" aspect of this tragedy.

"Army Secretary Pete Geren says the death of an Indiana National Guard soldier in medical care at Fort Knox appears to have been an isolated incident.

Geren told members of the U.S. Senate Armed Services Committee in Washington that steps have been taken to fix problems at the post outside Louisville, Ky., including the removal of the medical unit's commanders.

Sgt. Gerald Cassidy was wounded in a roadside bombing in Iraq in June 2006 and arrived at Fort Knox in April to receive care for ongoing medical problems. He was found dead in his room in September.

An autopsy performed for his family found he might have been unconscious for days before his death.
Geren said he could not discuss specifics until an investigation had concluded."
