Wildlife Officials Using Doughnuts To Lure Mysterious Ape From Woods
'Big Red Fur Ball' Ape Spotted In Woods

MACCLENNY, Fla. -- State wildlife officials are hoping doughnuts will lure an mysterious ape into the open in Baker County.

Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission spokeswoman Karen Parker said residents have reported seeing a "big orange ball of fur."

Wildlife officers can't confirm the furball is actually a large primate. But an animal control officer claims she saw an orange-colored ape "much larger than a spider monkey" sitting in a tree. Some residents speculate it may only be a squirrel.

Others think it may be a "baby Bigfoot."

Whatever it is, it apparently has a sweet tooth.

13. Could be an escaped pet, or yeah, it could be a fox squirrel
I live in Florida and I was once on a horseback riding trip with a group of friends when we spotted a fox squirrel in the trees. We were all SURE that it was a primate because of the way that it moved and it's size (far larger than any other species of squirrel), but eventually we got a closer look. They come in all sorts of colors-including red- and sometimes have interesting color patterns in their fur.

14. maybe an Orange Florida Panther?
I was once out in the woods and some guys came up and asked if there were monkeys around. They said they had seen something with a long tail climb a tree. I asked them to show me where they had seen it. When we got there all I could see was blond hair on both sides of a very large limb high up in an old Tan Oak. I couldn't imagine what it was at the time, but later figured it must have been a Mt. Lion I was standing under.
