Did anyone see Countdown tonight? KO had a story that FOX
Edited on Thu Nov-15-07 09:36 PM by Ilsa
Noise had told McCain to "cease and desist" using a snip of the FOX GOP debate in which he says he wasn't around for Woodstock and he got applause from the audience. Turns out that other GOP candidates were also using snips of the debates, but FOX hadn't bothered to contact them about using their proprietary material. When a reporter figured it out and starting investigating and writing about it, the FAUX lawyers sent out notices to the other campaigns.

On edit: the gist of the story was that FOX was trying to control the campaign and message against McCain.

Anyone else who heard this, please correct me or feel free to fill in the details for clarification.

1. saw it, missed the debate beginnings, but loved it
keithO is required watching in mine household. Of course, the dogs can only chew the remote, not really select the animal channel, despite their efforts.

2. I saw that too and when I finally got my chin off the floor, I did think
that will not only be the final nail in Roody's coffin but Fox will take a real hit for these actions. I hope..

8. Think it was Dana Milbank who made the slow drip...

analogy with regard to St. Rudy of 9/11. His supporters won't care about this -- he's America's Mayor, after all. And FUX viewers won't care either -- they'll vote for whomever FUX rams down their throats (sorry, just finished watching the http://foxnewsporn.com/ clip!). Have they even heard about this? Unless they're tuning in to KO, I doubt it. It really is astounding the disconnect between FUX viewers, and, well, the rest of us living in the reality-based world...

3. I thought that story plus what Judith Regan has been saying
are the two best arguments against media consolodation I've heard.

6. Roger Ailes In The Crosshairs
Connect some dots and we could see some documentation here that Rove and Ailes not only manipulate the network (surprise surprise), but there could be some legal implications if Ailes told Regan to shut up about Kerik. You've got three titanic egos...Regan, Ailes and Murdoch about to get into this mess and there's not gonna be enough popcorn around for this circus.

Ailes was Rudy's first campaign manager and Rudy helped Murdoch get on New York city cable...thus ensuring the network's viability...so here is some nice payback and my bets are Regan has some tapes of both that could not only turn that network into a media laughing stock but tread on intimidation and suborning perjury.

While Murdoch does hold broadcast licenses, Faux Noise isn't a broadcast network and there are no laws regulating him or his network for advocating for a candidate. Is it bad business practice? Damn cookie. Will it piss off Repugnicans who aren't in love with Rudy and turn them on the network...stay tuned.

of law, really traitorous stuff, not just for what appears to be "sleaze" as some are dismissing JRegan's lawsuit. But so far, I don't know if any of this meets the criteria.

12. If She Was Interviewed...
when Kerik was being vetted for Homeland Security Czar (shudder how close we came to that)...and lied about their relationship or any knowledge of his crooked dealings and withheld this from a federal investigator, she could face a bunch of trouble...but so could Ailes if she produces a tape with his voice on it telling her to keep quiet. This lady didn't get to the top of a very tough and cut-throat profession by just winking.

Of course they're dismissing the suit...it's one that glares a light between the relationship between "journalists" and politicians. It's attacking "the village" and the "convetional wisdom". It's more fun for them to find a Clinton to pick on.

Cheers...

:hi:

7. They are so stupid.. McCain would be their
best candidate. I shows that in every poll, and just from what I hear from Independents I know..he is the only Repub who could win this time IMO.

11. The impression I got was not that Fox is trying to bash down McCain as much as
boost Giuliani. If they have to knock down some others, then so be it.
