Hillary favors a "bipartisan commission" to handle SS and Medicare
That's sooooo Washington :eyes:

Here's how it works:

A bunch of "Wise Old Men", long-removed from political relevance anymore, but otherwise card-carrying members of the Georgetown cocktail party circuit (Lee Hamilton, Lawrence Eagleburger, Vernon Jordan, Alan Simpson, Madeline Albright, Jim Baker, et al.) are appointed to be on a commission to handle some vexing problem .

There is much fanfare and a naive expectation that things will actually change.

After many months, the commission produces a gobbledygook, policy wonky report making a bunch of recommendations.

A press conference is held. A lot of press conferences are held.

Congress and the president express some quaint interest before throwing the report in the trash can.

Nothing changes.

6. that's how things get put on hold
that's how things get marginalized

that's why Washington moves so slow

It's the way things have always been done.
It doesn't work.

7. Nah
You're just wrong. Washington has always worked that way. Washington works slowly by design. It's all good.

4. I have noticed in the current admin that whenever they don't have an
answer they annoint a 'bipartisan commission' to fix that problem, that never gets fixed. Meanwhile, tons of time and money is spent on the bureaucratic bullshit.

5. Sorry to disagree with you, but I think it's much worse than what you

said. The real purpose of a commission is to let a "bipartisan" group of rich people determine that ONLY a privatization plan can "save" SS.
