2. "A Case of You" is a masterpiece.
"Just before our love got lost you said,
'I am as constant as the northern star' ... "

What a great composition.

3. What's strange is that just a few years ago...
...a Canadian girl and I met while working at summer camp and fell in love. Only, as soon as I came home, I realized that "my girlfriend in Canada" is code for "nonexistant girl I made up to make myself look better in front of the guys." But damn it, mine was THE REAL THING!

Anyhoo, that song reminded me of her a lot. It still does...

17. I love that story. Songs have that power. They can reach into our most
personal memories and plunk us right back to when something happened.

And Joni's no slouch at it either.

4. That was on the 'Blue' album. Oh my, the memories for me!
I lived in France, and 'California' also got to me. "I'm comin' home..." At the time, I wished!

6. Gawd! And I married a Richard. Damn! I still love every damn song
on that album, and it was pretty dark. 'I'm looking for something, what can it be?'

7. It can conjure up my feelings at age, what was it...
12? 13? The brooding mood, the angst... Christ, were we ever that young, sister?

8. Cwap. I must be older than you. At 12/13, I was listening to 'Hair', my
first album. And then there was Janis! Joni came soon after, and then there was Pink Floyd! I will never regret the music in my youth, even though albums and tapes ruled. "Oh, no, they can't take that away from me!"

9. Well, my first album was "Meet the Beatles". But I was VERY young :)
I got it for going to the dentist without incident.

10. Ha! I remember buying my first b'day present for my twin sister; it was
1/2 of "Four Way Street" by CSNY. I now don't recall who got the other half of that double album, or the whole thing. I'm sure we shared the tunes. We both are still suckers for what they now call so distastefully 'oldies'. :hippie:

12. Have heart, Bluebear! I'm waiting to hear 'Shine' by Joni, and
I think a resurgence of some good music might be in the offing. Some already is.

19. Bluebear, you know what? "Sublime" is exactly the word for it.
Every corner of that album is interesting and emotionally rich.

18. babylonsister, I gotta say your political instincts are invariably compelling, but
hold the presses -- you're excellent on music as well.

Damn.
