Don't wait to donate to DU! Donate NOW and you can save your steps and use them later!

A number of people have let us know that they are waiting until later in the fund drive to donate to DU, because they do not want to donate before all the powerups have been used. To be clear: YOU DO NOT NEED TO WAIT. YOU CAN DONATE NOW AND USE YOUR STEPS LATER. Allow me to explain.

When you donate, you will be sent a private message which tells you how many steps you have to move the candidates backward or forward. You can use them immediately, or you can wait until later to use them. If you want to wait and not use your steps until after 900 donations when all the powerups have been used, you are free to do so.

If you have been waiting until later to donate, we ask that you please donate now. For one thing, if too many people wait to donate, then we might not get to 900 for a long time.

But there are also some advantages to donating now:

1. You will already have your steps, so you will be ready to spend them exactly when you want.

2. You would have the option to use a few steps now, in the hopes that you win one of the two remaining powerups. There are two left, they are both powerful, and THEY WILL BOTH BE FOUND by people who use their steps before we reach 900 donations.

3. You will be helping move the Fun Run past this slow period, to the part when people start using their powerups, and the candidates begin their frantic end-of-race sprint to the finish line. It would be a shame if the most exciting part of the race happened at 2am on Sunday morning.

So please donate now. You get the satisfaction of helping Democratic Underground. You get to participate in the Fun Run. And you have nothing to lose.
