Anybody else finding it impossible to donate to DU? PayPal isn't working.

I've tried at least 12 times to send through my donation and every time it has taken me to a page that indicates I should try again or go back to the homepage to re-login. This is a problem eBayers are experiencing a LOT now, too, and it couldn't be hitting DU at a worse time.

As an eBay buyer and seller, I'm usually there multiple times per day. And in the past couple of weeks this problem has been infuriating. I'm far from alone in this ... there are discussion threads about PayPal problems over on eBay's community boards. I called PayPal after this had happened to me on multiple purchases (I couldn't pay for them without trying over and over). They said it was a "known issue" and they were working on it. But it's far from fixed. They have also been marking as "pending" payments that are complete. I hate to see this problem hitting DU during its fund-raising drive. I don't think many people would be relentless about trying and retrying till the donation goes through.

I ordered an item last weekend and it still shows "pending". The money has already been processed so I don't understand why its pending. It is really pissing me off......I had no idea there were issues or I would've done something different.

I sent the seller an email and posted the order. I didn't post the details of the PayPal transaction but it damn sure cleared my account which pisses me off. I should have had that order by today. For sure no later than Monday. I will pick up the phone if necessary...... :-)

Let Skinner know.

Sellers don't know someone has paid, so they aren't sending out packages till PayPal verifies the payment. This is ticking off buyers who think the sellers are just keeping their money AND the merchandise. On one of my recent sales, it took two days to have the payment show up as paid.

I have made several purchases that went through on the first try. The problem is sporadic. PayPal says they're doing some work on their Website.

problems, too! I tried to donate 3 different times, but I was trying to change my previous way of donating, and I would get pummeled with 'questions trying to further identify me', and after answering said questions, there was supposed to be an e-mail sent to my e-mail inbox to give me a link to complete the donation process. The e-mail never appeared.

I finally did something a little different today, and it went through, but I'm thinking that I'll try to catch the fund drives early and send it snail mail! I really, for the first time, felt as if paypal was trying to get too much personal info. from me for something so simple as trying to make a donation! :hi:

The buyer told me she'd tried to get her account email address verified but PayPal wasn't sending back the necessary email. I thought she was stalling, not wanting to pay, so I sent the matter over of the Dispute Console and we ended the deal by mutual agreement. I should have figured if PayPal can't get the payments working, it was possible they weren't getting the emails working either.

I had thought during one of my sessions on PayPal that resulted in multiple failed payment attempts that it was just them trying to keep me from using a credit card (you know how they put you thru multiple screens to switch to that), so I tried a direct deduction from my bank account -- but that too failed to go through. Very frustrating.

address which changed approx. 1-2 months ago, so somehow PayPal had my current e-mail address, they were just asking a lot of questions that I didn't feel should be necessary to merely change the way that I usually donate to DU! This wasn't even through a PayPal account, as I don't have an account with PayPal, nor do I desire one...I just tried to change my usual donation method and got hit with many questions that I didn't feel comfortable answering!

I was considering changing banks anyway! Sigh!

If they aren't the same, then the two don't recognize each other.

through until I e-mail the Admins at DU every freaking time! :P

My registered e-mail at DU is different from the one at PayPal.

...so they "recognize" me. And I get the very same problem with PayPal/eBay transactions, and both of those use the same email address. Really, it's a systemic problem they have going on. And it's very hard to get PayPal to be responsive about what's going on other than to say they know about it and trying to fix it.

I use my paypal address ONLY for paypal, nothing else...

We're having some delays processing payments from Paypal (Nov 13th 2007)
For some reason Paypal's automated system that processes our donations is taking a long time to notify our server that payments have been received. Normally, this notification is sent virtually instantaneously, and our server processes the payment and gives your account on DU credit.

It appears that the delay is currently anywhere from 5 minutes to an hour, and we have no idea why it is taking this long for Paypal to notify our server.

It also appears that in rare circumstances, our server never receives the notification for a donation, and the account never gets credit.

You will know if your payment was properly processed if you receive a DU private message from Skinner thanking you for donating to the fund drive.

If you donate to the fund drive, and do not receive this PM immediately, please be patient. If, after an hour from the time of your donation, you have still not been given credit on DU and received this PM, please contact me and I will give you credit manually.

it is something to do with my husband already having an account on pay pal and doesnt want to take my credit card when i put it in.
