Our march against the war on a beautiful autumn afternoon - pictures
We had a march and a rally today in red state bible belt hell. It was organized by a group of high schoolers who did an incredible job! They contacted our task force and just told us where to come and what time.

Getting ready to go

Some of the marchers carried stretchers that held boots representing the soldiers from MO and KS who have died in the war.

As usual, there were some great signs.

It was a gorgeous day!

As we came up on the corner where we were rallying, we were greeted by 150 high school students chanting and cheering us on. It was a wonderful site!

At the rally:

And we were serenaded!

George comes to all of our rallies

This kid had a great idea for how we could finally impeach the war criminal! He said he didn't enjoy it but felt it was his patriotic duty.

And of course our local friendly law enforcement was there to "protect" us. They had to jot down our license plate numbers too! I guess they really wanted to make sure we were "safe".

Now all we have to do is have this happen in every city, town, and hamlet in America.

6. You know Naomi Wolf raised an interested issue the other
day and that is marketing.

Some of those photos are very crude... and I think it is time to think of marching in suit and tie and business suits.

The civil rights marches were done that way, and I think she has a point

Otherwise, kudos

12. Yes I heard that and we even had a discussion about it
The civil rights marches took place in the 60s and there was a very different dress code then. Women didn't even wear pants then.

But I am willing to wear a skirt as long as I can still wear my IMPEACH shirt. And no high heels. They are bad for your feet anyway. :)

Otherwise pretty quiet. I don't know if you knew, we marched in the UFPJ San Francisco protest on 10/27. It was great. If you didn't see the photos I posted here, let me know and I'll send you the link. It was really a great day.

20. Wonderful!
Let this serve as a reminder to all DUers how important it is that we don't write off our hard working brothers and sisters who are stuck in deep red zones.

It's so much easier to just give up and not make an effort when you are a small minority in your part of the world.

My thanks to all those who chose to get out there and take a stand! :yourock:

Julie

28. I protested once..
Or twice. In D.C.,after his Selection, and then when the thief came to our small southern town. His first visit anywhere as Chief Resident, I believe. He was, of course, shocked to see a few gnarly protesters, so fresh off of his "victory". The face I loathe, pressed against the window of his limo in abject shock at our signs and jeers.

After that, protesters were blocked into "protest zones", miles away, so He Himself wouldn't have to see them, so the MSM wouldn't cover them. Lo and behold, they haven't covered. I've been watching. Who has seen a protest anywhere NEAR Bush, except on international media?

And now, with this obscene war, never-ending. I don't know why we haven't shut down Pennsylvania Avenue.

So thank you for the pictures. Thank you for sharing this protest The signs were wonderful! Your spirit is inspiring to us all. I live in red state hell and can only dream and reminisce about the time a protest of citizens of the Free United States of America looked like this:

32. Oh there are protests all over the country all the time.
We have 4 a week here in Kansas City.

The media ignores the growing voice of dissension. No matter how many people or how much noise we make, we have been placed in a media imposed free speech zone.

That sure doesn't stop me though.

You certainly had a good turnout! To anyone reading this post, this area is uber-suburban upper middle class. Having a protest there is fantastic!

Good to see the old neighborhood.

37. Arrest BUSH & One Nation Under Survielliance...
Beautiful!

I was, and am out of town, but I have to say that these pics will make me sleep tonight with a smile on my face.

PROUD, let me say that YOU are deserving of ALL of our admiration, and KUDOS to those High Schoolers who sought you out and marched with you in Kansas City.

Every day I confront those in my life who say "Oh, there's nothing wrong...where do you come up with this crazy stuff John?"

And I say, "Your country is DEAD, and so are YOU if you don't see it"

I have lost more friends, and even family members from my life because they DO NOT UNDERSTAND.

Well, I understand.

Thank you Proud, and Thank you to all of my friends at DU that fight the good fight against these fascist mother'effers.

Oh, and by the way...

MAY WOLF BLITZER AND HIS ILK BURN IN HELL FOREVER!

I'm Proud to say I think the world is better because of people like Proud2Blib!

YOU GO GIRL!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING DU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
