12. That's is great but Battered Women have special needs.
Many shelters across the country need money and a lot of it,
due the the miserly b* regime! It's sickening! :grr:
I've read over and over across the country, about shelters
closing and turning people away.

http://www.womenindistress.com/

WID provides emergency shelter to abused women and their children.
For many women, leaving home is their first major step in breaking the cycle of abuse.
The 54-bed Shelter’s homelike setting creates a safe atmosphere so that clients feel
secure while they obtain legal and medical assistance, permanent housing, and employment
assistance. WID’s shelter offers group counseling and education to women and their children
in the following areas: domestic violence, parent effectiveness training, and financial
management. Residents of the shelter do not pay for housing, clothing, and non-perishable
foods. Male survivors of domestic violence are referred to an appropriate shelter specific
to the needs of men, while domestic violence related-services are offered to them at the
Jim and Jan Moran Family Center.

7. I'm taking a trip to ours tomorrow.
I've got a HUGE amount of appliances and clothes to donate. I'm washing the clothes now.

We just moved, and we specifically moved stuff we knew we'd not keep JUST to donate it to The Spring (Tampa's battered women's shelter).

5. The list is endless...
Fisher House, for example.

When you get your face blown off in Iraq, I dunno who you might want to talk to, but me, maybe I'd want to talk to my Mom.

9. Better yet, go serve them food in those shelters
I did it with my Cub Scouts when I was Cubmaster... and one of my assistants is a regular food server at the mission on 6th street in Downtown Los Angeles.

That is food for the soul, I tell you what!
