How Dare You!
That should be our permanent response to this pathetic, ridiculous, "you don't support the troops" talking point. I am getting so sick and tired of the same old rhetoric coming from the same old people. Bohner actually had the nerve today to claim that Murtha's bill to insure that the troops get proper equipment, training, and a year off between deployment, was hurting the troops. This lie they have been perpetuating for 4 years now has gone beyond absurd. Olbermann reported tonight that 10 billion dollars in Iraq war money is unaccounted for. This is in addition to the 12 Billion in Iraqi money that is missing. This 10 billion is in U.S. tax dollars. But, you go to war with the army you have not the army you want right? Reminds me of the line in Batman Begins where Morgan Freeman tells Christian Bale that "The government didn't think a soldiers life was worth a $100,000" when he was asked why the high tech body armor Batman uses was never put into production.
It was Republicans who cut Veterans benefits, cut combat pay, cut housing subsidies, and cut disabled Veterans benefits. It's Republicans who think that what lowers a soldiers moral is 70% of America wanting them to come home to their families. Hey freepers, want to know what lowers a soldiers moral? Hearing that "you go to war with the army you have not the army you want" lowers morale. Hearing that "Money trumps peace" lowers morale. Fighting next to a guy who is making 5 times as much money as you are lowers moral. Getting ready to get on a plane home and then being told you have just been re-deployed hurts moral. Not knowing who the enemy is lowers morale. Having most of the soldiers and commanders say "more troops won't help" and then sending them anyway, hurts morale. Not having proper armor hurts morale, especially when 10 Billion dollars is missing. Listening to Virgina Congressman Virgle Goode claim today on the floor that if we pull out of Iraq we will have a green flag with a sickle and star flying over the White House and our money will say In Mohammad We Trust on it is probably not good for morale. Basically what Goode said was our military is so bad and our country so weak that if we pull out of Iraq our military won't be able to defend us from the terrorists and that we will become an Islamic nation. All I can say to that asshole is HOW DARE YOU! Say it folks, and keep saying it. They may have no shame but that doesn't mean we should ignore their shameful behavior. HOW DARE YOU!

35. Simply FANTASTIC!!!
How dare they, INDEED!!!

That's a REALLY good statement to throw back in their faces when they have the gall to question OUR patriotism for wanting to support the troops FOR REAL (by making sure they're not sent to war on the cheap, AND by making sure they're not sent to war on a LIE).

5. K&R&H! Well put!
Exactly what I have wanted to say for so long!

HOW DARE YOU! How dare you claim that I am not as good an American than you are, just because I think that the war is wrong! How dare you laugh at the victims of Katrina! How dare you blithely say there's no problems in this country, when so many people are unable to get by and corporate fascists make millions per year! How dare you condone obvious racism and bigotry!

How dare you act to destroy this country, and try to blame me for it!

HOW DARE YOU!

And good points about what the republic party is doing to our troops!

How DARE you f*ckers accuse the Dems of "not supporting the troops"! They've done NOTHING to protect our military and perpetually gave Little Lord Pissypants a BLANK CHECK with NO OVERSIGHT! They've destroyed our military. Soldiers are being sent to Iraq lacking in the sufficient training they need. They don't have body armour. Their humvees barely run. It's sickening. How dare these rat bastards accuse us of ANYTHING!

HOW DARE YOU?

14. Unbelievable, from the article:
CBS News has confirmed that Alishtari is a donor to the Republican Party, as he claims on his curriculum vitae. Alishtari gave $15,500 to the National Republican Campaign Committee between 2002 and 2004, according to Federal Election Commission records. That amount includes $13,000 in 2003, a year when he claims to have been named NRCC New York State Businessman of the Year.

Alishtari also claims to be a lifetime member of the National Republican Senate Committee's Inner Circle, which the NRCC describes as "an impressive cross-section of American society – community leaders, business executives, entrepreneurs, retirees, and sports and entertainment celebrities – all of whom hold a deep interest in our nation's prosperity and security.

Not only was this guy a donor, but a member of the "inner circle". Gee I wonder what Fox News would be saying if this guy had been a Dem...

13. Yeah I been seeing stuff on the news, worse than we had
we've only had one weekend without snow in the last 8 weeks but it's been mostly small stuff. I've been seeing reports of 12 feet in upstate NY with more coming. That's nuts. This is easily the worst winter we've had in 15 years. But don't worry, there's no problems with the climate :eyes:

------------------------------

A sloppy winter storm dumped a heavy mix of snow and sleet on Boston,
slowing the Valentine's Day morning commute.

At left, a Fung Wah bus carrying 35 passengers crashed into a guardrail at the
Allston-Brighton tolls on the westbound Massachusetts Turnpike this morning.
Though the bus had to be towed from the scene, no one was injured.

Commuters braved stinging sleet and the occasional snow flurry outside South Station in Boston today.

We didn't get a ton of snow south of Boston but we did get a whole lot of ice!
Lots of car accidents and freezing rain but it could've been a lot worse!
My car has been frozen in ice for three days! And my heater switch is broken or frozen. Argh!

21. How Dare You
Allow the president to be selected by the Supreme Court and then allow the country to be attacked on 9/11 without a full investigation and killing the financiers of that operation and then allowing our votes to be put in a black box so that no one can tell how the votes were counted or who really won and then make up an imaginary threat and invade a country under the banner of advancing democracy while destroying everything good in that country, all while continuing to make unproven and false accusations against the last elected president?

How Dare You use my country for your own nefarious ends? You are my enemy. And I will fight you until you are no more.

29. Quit using the troops personally
We've got to do it, too. We've let the right wingers frame that.

The troops are extensions of us. They are doing our national bidding. We have to take responsiblity for what they do, not lean on them as victims.

Both sides are equally guilty. It is just an attempt to move what we cannot intellectually handle to a personal level. Like saying, "gee, bow'd you feel if some guy raped your daughter?" Well, gee, I wouldn't be very objective, and I'd want to kill him. That's why we have a justice system. So I and my emotions taking over, overwhelming my reason, doesn't lead to the mistaken death or whoever I feel might be guilty who isn't.

Same thing here. The troops are killing people over there, not just "in harm's way." To others, they are the harm. And they are killing those people on our behalf. Because we claim to be in danger.

Infer that troop support is similar to administration policy in that they are both worthy of the same guilt.

32. Uh.. back slowly away from the sharp objects...
This is the most bizarre response I've ever had to a post. Let me explain a few things to you. "I" haven't let the right wingers frame anything. The troops are not an extension of "me". They are not doing "my" national bidding. I don't see them as victims of a war I see them as victims of a corrupt government. They are under orders, to not follow orders means jail or death. You act as if they have some kind of choice in the matter. No one anywhere is killing anyone on my behalf. I am not at war. Just because my ass happens to be in America does not mean whatever the government does is on my behalf. Let me just say, that you should not presume to make demands upon me, and don't presume that I am not equipped to "intellectually handle" this issue.
