David Brooks, "Opponents of the war have nothing. You gotta have a plan...
"...and they don't have one." so let me understand...

there is no current republican plan but to stand there and be blown up and buffeted within a centuries old religio blood feud, OK...

there never was a plan for protracted war beyond securing the oil field which remain after five (5) years and for all intent unsecured, hm...

even if war was to be the "we just gotta do it" course of action; cheney/bush/rumsfeld/kristol/et al, never thought to pick apart Saddam, or the region from afar with even more surgical weaponry you know, some sort a cruise missile every couple hours or so atop some infrastructure system or whatever...

Franks would-be 'shock & awe non-plan' served to awe few but for they involved with war porn, while continuing to send shock waves all through the American system here at home...

rumsfeld's blitzkrieg had no plan for securing the 100's of tons of munitions & ordnance that now make up a constant source of IED's...

in spite of the lessons of Vietnam, we continue to be engaged in a so-called new kind of 'asymmetric war', per this republican plan for war profiteering; by doing little more than clomping round yet another bleak, bombed out landscape like the Jolly Green Giant of Vietnam infamy...you know what...

republicans, and the entire right-wing, never had a plan, they still don't; they are winging it, ad-libbing, unable to improvise on a simple blues rif

i hope david is making a good living, but David Brooks has carried their water too long,

even if the opponents of war had no plan (which they/we do), what is to be found lacking by exchanging an untried 'no war plan', for a 'no war plan' that has failed so utterly, so miserably?

it is time for Mr. Brooks to pull his head out from his ass imo

3. The Monday Morning Quarterback Season Has Begun
Thank goodness for the internets...as one by one these stenographers attempt to pretend they weren't culpable in cheerleading this disaster and berating those of us who knew it to be a disaster from the outset. Brooks, Joke Line...err Joe Klein, Tweety and the others who now pretend to be either "objective observers" or had their reservations then...but said nothing. They are as guilty, if not more, than those who couldn't wait to invade...as these were the people in "the middle" who assured the majority in this country that invading Iraq was right and just.

Democrats should tell asshats like Brooks and Broder to go fuck themselves...as no matter what they do it either won't be enough or it'll be too much. Either we have no plan or our plan is to gut the military and spit on troops. Either we're traitors for speaking out against this invasion or we're being political opportunists because we dare to say we were right.

The corporate media feels they are immune to any responsibility in the problems we now face. They feel they can control the story or shape it as to pretend not to have rolled over for the money, ratings and access. They can pretend they're on our side, but we know better.

6. We have a plan...
Actually, SEVERAL plans...but they all lead to one thing: a steady time-table for virtual total troop redeployment from Iraq within one year. And just the opposite of wholesale escalation.

And Dub had a plan in his hands, too...from the Iraq Study Group. He just chose to toss it into the trash. But, then, I suppose an idiot like Brooks thinks that action was wise compared to our "non-plans". Which, of course, is his oft-repeated "non-truth"!:eyes:

B-)

9. Why do we have to have a plan for someone else's fuck up?
We could just leave.

Wouldn't be any worse. And we couldn't prevent it if it were heading that way anyway.

We're gonna have to leave one day. Why not now? Oh, that's right...pride and politics.

Mr. Brooks should be deposited on a Baghdad street corner to fend for himself. What a tool.

11. Okay, here's a plan
A perfectly rational plan would be to remove our troops from the middle of a civil war.

12. Leave it to the fascists ...
... to spend hundreds of billions of dollars in Other People's Money in an illegal military invasion, define and redefine 'success' in terms that they have absolutely no control over achieving, postpone the inevitible, growing catastrphe by throwing away the lives and limbs of Other People's Children, and then blame those who told them they were wrong from the very beginning.

If that's not the behavior of a mob of criminal psychopaths, then I don't know what is.

Deconstructing Brooks - the Neo-Con smear of Harry Reid

David Brooks infuriates me with what he says and writes, until I remember he is a coward and a paid whore for greedy warmongers.

To the Editor:

Re ''Bush's Epic Gamble,'' by David Brooks (column, May 25): What is ''epic'' about this administration except its remove from reality?

History will note Bush administration officials for their breathtaking assault on the rule of law, here and abroad, and for their ability to so degrade our national discourse that a commentator could describe their manipulations of the grave concerns of this country in inflated terms.

ELIZABETH FERRARI
