Witty and good-looking, a deadly combination. My favorite "Real Time" Brit since Ian McShane was on the show. A rather subdued show. Poor Michael Steele, he's a little chagrined since his loss; the old arrogance is a little muffled (kinda like Bush). And Carly isn't abrasive enough to be a Republican Blonde or astute enough to be progressive. She's just boring. Maher doesn't have much to work with tonight. At least Ferguson has some liveliness -- when he can get a word in. Steele is sucking up all the oxygen.

63. This was a very disappointing return.
Which is sad for me because I love my Friday nights with Real Time. I have to blame it on the panel. Of the three guests, only Craig Ferguson offered any personal insight that was fresh, humorous or thought provoking.

That’s not to say it was a total downer. The two satellite guest interviews met those standards in a free-speech/topic forum that one rarely gets to see.

67. Agree. Steele seemed to be as bored with himself
as we are. I think his not getting elected to Congress has him a bit chastened. Yet he's dutifully reciting the GOP talking points, just with less enthusiasm than before. And former CEO Carly is so cautious and controlled in what she says that she's equally as boring. She's acting as though she's interviewing for something. Maybe she's hoping the Bushies are watching and will reward her failed leadership with a cushy administration position -- as they have so many others.
Thank God for Ferguson. A little more of him would have been helpful.
