T-minus two days and counting to Thanksgiving and where are your elected representatives in the Executive and Legislative branches? Let's see. Bush is pardoning turkeys, Cheney is shooting them, Pickles is smoking them with a carton of Marlboro unfiltereds, McCain is avoiding them lest one of his team call them birds or tom-toms or another offensive name, Hillary is offering them health care, Kucinich is keeping them out of the military, Barak wants to help them immigrate back to their native lands, and Edwards wants to make sure they're all properly registered to vote.

We just want to roast them at 375 for a few hours, baste them with butter and dig in . . . . the turkeys, I mean. Not the candidates.

We'll discuss the Thanksgiving fest tonight, plus the latest news. Like the three-way Democratic dead-heat that polls indicate has developed in the Iowa primary. Is Hillary losing her massive lead? Could this become an actual race?

And it doesn't look like the Toddler in Chief will win his temper-tantrum against Congress' lack of swift action in funding his perpetual war for perpetual death in Iraq. Guess it's time for him to throw his toy soldier around the Oval Office and kick his feet on the presidential rug, screaming: "You can't stop me, I'm a War President! I'm the Decider! I'll show you . . . . Unca Dick where's my football? No, I wan' the REAL football, the one with the nukulur codes-n-stuff . . . "

According to the New York Times: "House Democrats and the White House continued their public relations battle over money for the Iraq war today, as two leading lawmakers accused the administration of trying to scare people for political gain. 'We’ve already provided all the money the administration will need to get them through to March and to avoid the horror stories that they’re peddling,' said Representative David R. We're doing well thanks, but Mr. smokey's mom had to put her kitty Andy down today. Poor old guy was diagnosed with chronic renal failure about two years ago and he started going down hill over the past few weeks. I'll post a picture of Andy in a few minutes. I took a bunch when we were there on Saturday for my mother-in-law's X-mas present.

Good website.

I got my friend's cat put on a U.S. postage stamp last year and got 20 or 40 stamps. She was so surprised and they came out great.

Andy looks like my old Smokey.

We had been getting her accessories for her Correlle dishes and I think we've gotten her all the available accessories, so we had to come up with a new idea.

My mother-in-law wanted to name him Smokey, my father-in-law was the one who picked Andy.

She and her S.O. always go and adopt the unadoptable from the pound. Their last 2 dogs had been abused but they did wonders with them and gave them a wonderful home. Doggie #2 just died 2 weeks ago. Since they don't have kids, they were devastated!

Then, S.O.'s brother just died, his father had died earlier in the year. They aren't having a great year. Wish I could go back for a visit. Maybe next year.

And I may be able to check in late, but I'm not so sure! I'm feeling like a guilty pig regarding 'skinny kitty'. I had to take the Vue in for service today and I didn't leave the food and water out while I was gone for fear that the big, mean kitties would run h/she off. I was held up for over 2 hrs. at the Saturn place, and then I had my errands mapped out to connect with my being on that part of town.

Anyway, I accidentally scared h/she off by walking on the porch, the boys called to get permission to be home late from school (6:30 was their time to be home), one of the big, mean kitties scared it off, so when it returned to try to eat I called Mr. lefty and asked him if he could delay his arrival by 5-10 mins. which he agreed to do, but the kids arrived home early and scared it off, so...I don't think that h/she was well fed today. I'll try to do better tomorrow! :hug:

I've figured out that I'm thankful that I don't live like my neighbors after he went off again today - yelling and screaming and swearing and it was sounding as it does right before he hits his wife. For those who thought Obama was "yelling" or "screaming" at the woman in the audience come visit and hear REAL yelling and screaming. :crazy:

Our house sits on a lot that is a little shy of an acre. Between us they've put in a pool (well after we started ours), a pool house, etc., so when I hear him yelling and screaming at his family members, it's across another lot...they're not just next door! I fully understand battered women, but I have to wonder why she didn't take the money invested in all of that, and take the kids and get the hell out!

I didn't make it for a full year, packed what I could fit into a compact car, took the money I'd managed to stash away, and I left and moved on...and life's been much better on the other side of being slapped around! I didn't have children then, so I'm sure that makes a difference! :hug:

My invitees were mostly new people this year, so I don't really blame them. However, they don't know what they are missing, as T-G meal is one of my best. I love to cook. I'm going to the movies on Friday and a little shopping with another friend. She will not crap out, she's a real friend.

I'm making the usual goodies for myself and the furrballs. They just LOVE chicken or turkey. I might just eat vegetarian for myself and have sweet potatoes, peas, stuffing and gravy. It's no big deal.

I have a cousin Caroline with whom I grew up and she was painfully thin as a child. When I was little, I thought the song was "Feed Caroline" and that Neil Diamond had written it for her.

I'm not having any problems with the stream. Have you tried any of the links in the OP? Squeeky is a beautiful kitty!! S/he looks a lot like the late, great Old Willie.

Lucky to be in good health, I got him when he was a kitty from a hobo in front of a 7-11 who was moving on and wanted to make sure Squeeky had a good home since he couldn't take Squeeky with him. I saw Squeeky curled up in the guy's sleeping bag with a little saucer of milk and I sensed the hobo had been a good caretaker so I took Squeeky home and have had him ever since.
