8. Yes, they have a tradition of making the "D" answer on the first question
a comical answer. It's the $100 question, the first one and the easiest one the contestant has to answer. So just for fun, they give three "serious" choices and they make up a funny one for the "D" answer. Often it is a reference to a current celebrity, and only rarely is it a reference to a politician or political figure. It surprised me tonight that they would go that far, and possibly alienate conservative viewers, but I guess they figured anyone in the public eye is fair game.

9. Sorry - Meredith Vieira is the host of it now
For the first few years, Regis Philbin was the host, but Meredith Vieira is the host (and one of the executive producers) of it now.

14. You're welcome. If you search YouTube, you can find clips
of funny moments from that show, usually dumb answers or mistakes that have made contestants leave with nothing. It seems unlikely that someone will put the question from tonight's show on YouTube, but it's possible.

I usually don't care for television personalities but she's grown on me. When the OP mentioned Meredith, she came to mind. Then I wasn't sure if she was some kind of guest or the host or celebrity contestant. Thanks for helping to clear that up.
