The take-down.
When the ruling elite appoints someone to handle the state apparatus and serve their interests (the increased rate of wealth accumulation), they expect results. In some respects Chimpy and the PNAC gang have been highly successful. The masses have been impoverished to some degree or other, and the obscenely wealthy have become even more grotesquely so. But their status as rulers of the planet has been increasingly threatened.

The promise of world hegemony through the "shock and awe" slaughter of a million or more hasn't been realized. Instead of pushing China and Russia into a small corner by controlling oil and positioning bases, the US military has been depleted and the brute force power of "the world's only superpower" has been turned into a true paper tiger. Murderous, yes, but effective, no. US imperialism is dying, and those whose wealth and status derive from the continual expansion of global capitalism are pissed.

Their once-trusted agents are no longer seen as useful, but as malignant rogues who no longer serve the powers-that-be. The logical thing is to strip them of their power and put in place some other surrogate. That's just what we are seeing.

We the people can play a role in shaping our future, but knowing how "the great game" is being played by our enemy is a part of achieving justice. The take-down of the pretzeldunce and his cohorts works to our advantage if we can use it to unmask those they served, but not if we let them choose their next agent and our next "leader."

5. And those who won't acknowledge this and refuse to fight on our behalf,
well, they don't serve us, no matter how much they claim to be on our side or cater to our prejudices.

6. I've always been OK with voting for the "lesser evil."

Given that kind of choice, what else can one do. I haven't felt that any candidate was "my candidate" since Bobby Kennedy was murdered. Listen to the speech he gave when, en route to another campaign stop, he learned that Martin Luther King had been murdered and had to be the first to tell a waiting crowd of supporters what had just happened. Listen to his words, and ask yourself, what candidate since then could have done anywhere close to that. http://www.americanrhetoric.com/speeches/rfkonmlkdeath.html

If it doesn't make you cry, well, that is probably because you weren't there then, and you have no idea how much we lost.
