Thanks for George Bush's Supporters
Seriously, I'm thankful for the numbers of Bush/Cheney supporters who have finally begun to return to some semblance of sanity. By their belated recognition of the squandering of the lives of nearly 4,000 of our men and women in uniform and the physical and mental mutilations of uncounted thousands more, the anger toward Bush and Cheney is responsible for the nearly 80% of Americans who are now experiencing a renewed appreciation for so many precious things that have either been lost or nearly lost. Such as,

...faith in our electoral processes,

...habeas corpus,

...the right to dissent,

...the right to unmonitored conversation or email,

...the idea of a mainstream media uncontrolled by corporate/political interests,

...international respect for our nation and its leaders,

...allies who are proud to be our friends,

...the idea of a military used only for defense,

...the idea that citizens, not corporations, own the nation,

...the value of truth.

And that list is just the very tiny tip of a very large iceberg. Please, feel free to add to it.

1. I've been thinking about that for a while: In an ironic sort of way, we owe thanks
to that which makes it necessary for us to "get straight"/honest with our individual selves and with our collective "others".

I think it was William Blake, or maybe it was Wordsworth, who referred to this great mystery as "the Holy Contrary" (or something such as that), without which there would be no Freedom to **choose** Love. Even Jesus had to have his Judas.
