McClellan let the cat out the the bag.

Why can't the Democrats (or more precisely, the Democratic leadership and the DLC) at the very least use this against the Republicans? Why can't they all stand together and publicly call for the impeachment of both Bush and Cheney, and then if it doesn't pass, point at the Republicans who refused to do the right thing?

Do they really think the American people will disagree with them? Or is it that they are nothing more than corporate fascists with a "D" next to their name?

I'll give them a week. Two at most. If they don't move to impeach, then that does it. Don't bother to vote anymore because there is no democracy in America.

1. Because they dont care about democracy. They care about elections. And somehow
they seem to think that impeachment "looks bad for elections". It is their mantra. It has never been about lack of evidence.

every politician cares about elections. They have to win in order to serve.

As I have said, Iowa is less than sixty days away and now we're at the holidays. Then, it's caucus season.

There will be no impeachment. There's no time. There would have to be a Special Prosecutor appointed, an investigation, committee hearings, floor debate, a test vote, a final vote...

Look at what the Democrats went through to get as far as Iran-Contra...and they still didn't impeach Reagan. I'll bet many of the same people screaming for impeachment today were asking for it then, too. They were ignored then and they'll be ignored now.

It ain't gonna happen. It was never going to happen.

Let's face the facts. Bush won because his opponents couldn't win enough southern states. This was the case in both elections. It's also interesting to note that Bush won both races without carrying California either time.

Lesson learned? People running for president don't need progressives. Not even a little bit. They have nowhere else to go. Larry O'Donnell admitted as much the other night.

Democrats have to deal with the whole God thing and their inability to win elections in the South. You can't sell abortion, gay rights, feminism, gun control and unionism to someone who walks around with a Bible in his hand. You can try...but you can't actually do it!

Until the Democrats finally decide to realign, Republicans will just pick them up by the ears and toss them down the steps, every cycle. Yes, Democrats won in 2006 because many of those races were very close. It's also important to note that many of 2006's House freshman class were not progressives...

...and that brings us back to why there's going to be no impeachment. Most of these people are from moderate to conservative districts. Many of their constituents are serving in the military, know someone who is or actually work in the defense sector. They don't dare impeach Bush. They don't even breathe it.

I'll say it again:

This is not Europe! This is not Northern California or Massachusetts! If you want to live in one of those places, move there...but you're not going to turn this into that.

It will never be allowed. It will never happen.

If it didn't happen during the Sixties, why would it happen now?

5. Yes!
But how do you get around the problem of Edwards' failing to win North Carolina for Kerry?

Even so, if North Carolina had gone Democratic Bush would still have 271 Electoral votes. Do the math.

Those states are all red down there anyway.

3. I don't know that a book excerpt would qualify as proof.
Now, if they wanted to use that excerpt as a pretext to subpoena Scotty-Pot... :-)
