My sister sent me this...
Some restaurant owner outside of Pittsburg, who runs some greasy spoon called the Casa D'Ice likes to get creative with his billboard out front. I have no way to post the pics of the various things on this billboard (nor would I want to), but let's just say they're something that makes me want to vomit.

I will, however, include one quotation.

"Bring back the rotary phone so we don't have to press 1 to proceed in English."

There were several such wittlessisms in the pics attached to the email.

My response?

Yeah, gotta love them racists.

People like this guy are why we're in such deep shit. They're more worried about a couple of Spanish speaking folks than asking why Republicans never bothered to get to the root cause of the issue--because their friends in industry WANT cheap labor they can exploit.

So they vote Republican and turn our government over to the big business and fat cats who don't give a shit about anything other than lining their own pockets and use race-baiting crap like this to get people to jump the way they want them too.

Race isn't the problem...Class is the problem. Like Warren Buffet (the 3rd richest man in the world) said about it "We do have a class war in this country. And my class is winning. But we shouldn't be."

The ones with money use shit like this to distract us when THEY are picking our pockets. It's like stage magic.

The guy's right about the gas prices. And who's in bed with the oil companies? That's right...the Bush administration. The same administration that just LOVES the Saudis, and attacked Iraq after 9/11 when 15 of the hijackers were from Saudi Arabia.

When Clinton left office gas was $1.39 a gallon.

We have to ask ourselves--who benefits? And who loses?

1. Serious question
If we had rotary phones would we not have to then "dial" one for english? Therefore negating any point the neanderthal is trying to make. And why does one dial/press for a language? Could it be to facilitate a BUSINESS transaction? I guess the restaurant owner is against business transactions.

4. I hate phone trees as much as anybody else
but I'd rather push a button than turn a dial.

Arthritis sucks and so does that billboard moron.

8. I hate seeing otherwise smart people fall for the race-baiting crap...
And I respond firmly to all of them.

2. I have responded to e-mails
by stating I wish I could press 2 for Spanish- that I'm embarrassed that I'm not bilingual. This usually shuts them down, but it certainly does not address the issues that you point out.

It is racist to the core, subrogation of the poor, and I feel it is a plot to keep the poor fighting among themselves (actually ourselves).

3. My response would be
"If having to press 1 is the worst thing that's happened to you this week, you have much to be thankful for."

I'm much more annoyed at being sent through a menu of choices and then being put on hold for 20 minutes listening to the Beatles done by a bad string quartet.

6. People in the restaurant industry never hired illegals to wash dishes or bus tables LOL.
I've seen the site you're talking about. A bunch of racist anti-Hispanic immigrant dreck.

7. Yep...
The second otherwise intelligent person who's sent me anti-immigrant crap in the past few months. And got the same general response.

I'm tired of all the anti-hispanic shit I'm seeing from otherwise rational people. It makes me crazy. I've liked damn near every hispanic person I've ever met...legal or illegal, I have no idea. I don't ask to see green cards. LOL

I'm sick of the race-baiting. SO sick of it.
